Cedar Street announces a new fundraising workshop! Our first-ever Broadway Basics Workshop - the first of a series of workshops focused on building standard performing skills for our local community. Part 1 is Dance. This workshop is designed to help the “movers” (actors who aren’t too comfortable with dance yet) learn dance moves that are commonly found in choreography. Our Cedar Street Dance Coaches will break down each dance move to its most basic steps, so you can learn how they work until you can dance them confidently. We will cover several steps - from a ball change step to a chaînes turn.

As a fundraiser, entrance & participation will be for a suggested donation of $10 (cash accepted at the door).

Space is limited so sign up today: https://signup.com/go/kRjVKeo

It’s time for another “White Christmas” Crew Highlight! Today we are highlighting our fantastic Costumer: Jared Porter!

Jared is a versatile theatre artist with a MA in Dramatic Production and over 30 years of experience as a performer, director, musician and technician. Before relocating to CA, he taught Technical Theatre and Costume Design in the arts magnet schools in Tampa.

Jared’s students are the reason he learned to sew and became a costumer. To him, costuming had always been a tool for providing opportunities for his students to apply their creativity to various skill sets that can develop into careers. This is actually the first production he has costumed without a team of students.

Jared’s first production in CA was CST’s Something Rotten, in which he played Nigel. He now serves as Co-Artistic Director on CST’s Board of Directors. Jared is grateful to be a part of bringing his favorite holiday film to our local stage.

Come see what gorgeous costumes he’s put together for this show! December 15th-17t at the Lancaster Performing Arts Center

Continuing our “White Christmas” Ensemble highlight! We have the wonderful Ani Hyman!

While this is only her second time performing with CST, Ani is thrilled to be a part of the cast. Growing up surrounded by the arts, she started very young in her church and school choir, performed on international television when she was young, and participated in music and drama all throughout high school. As an adult, she was active with youth ballroom for many years in the Antelope Valley. She grew up watching “White Christmas” every year and has happily passed that tradition down to her family and daughter.

Come watch her sing and dance in Irving Berlin’s classic musical “White Christmas” performing at the Lancaster Performing Arts Center December 15th-17th!

You know what time it is? It’s time for a “White Christmas” Highlight! We are continuing to highlight our fantastic ensemble, and today we are highlighting the incredible Emily Montalto!

Emily is very excited to perform in her third production with CST. The theater bug bit for Emily in 2022. When she was in "A Christmas Carol", having a small role as one of the Brown's sisters, and it's been ongoing since getting to be in "Bye, Bye, Birdie" and now "White Christmas".

Emily's onstage performances began when she was just 2 years old, as a dancer with Caravan Dance Studio, she continued to dance with them until 11 years old. Learning tap, ballet, jazz, lyrical, contemporary, and hip-hop.

When Emily is not at rehearsals, she enjoys playing volleyball and supporting her siblings at their sporting events. She wants to thank her Mom, Dad, Sara, Becca and Adam for always supporting her at every show she has done and to thank CST for giving her the opportunities to do something she has really grown to love.

We are happy she’s a part of this show and she’s wonderful! Come see Emily in “White Christmas” December 15th-17th at the Lancaster Performing Arts Center

Colleen has performed in several shows here in the AV, with Cedar Street theater as well as with Palmdale repertory theater. She has been a dance instructor at Caravan School of dance as well as the secretary for the Palmdale repertory theater board.
When not doing theater productions Colleen is very active with Scouts BSA as both the training chair and Scoutmaster of Troop 1134G.

It’s time for another “White Christmas” Spotlight, and it’s the adorable granddaughter of the General, Susan Waverly played by Raelyn Skoglund!

Raelyn is thrilled to be part of this production. She was born in Iowa. She has been singing and putting on “shows” for family and friends in her living room since she could walk. Her first experience grazing the stage was when she was 6 years old. She was cast as the lead angel in the Children’s Christmas program where she sang her very first solo. It was safe to say she had found her passion.

Raelyn is in seventh grade. Her desire is to plug herself into any program where she can learn and grow in her knowledge as an actor and a performer. Other than singing and acting, she enjoys playing her piano and chasing her brother around.

She has since participated in Disney’s Frozen Jr. as Young Anna, the girl version of Peter Pan (Penny Pan) as Penny Pan and Annie Jr. as Annie.

Come see Raelyn as the adorable Susan Waverly in “White Christmas” December 15th - 17th at the Lancaster Performing Arts Center

It’s time for another “White Christmas” spotlight! Today we are spotlighting the incredible Robert Shupe, playing Ezekiel Foster, the inn’s caretaker!

A little about Robert: Robert loved his two experiences of being in musical theatre when in high school in Arizona. After that, although he loved attending live theatre for years, he never saw himself on stage again … until his job brought him to Palmdale in 2017. That day job is serving as the Library Director for the City of Palmdale, and during his first year in town, when he started hearing about open auditions for “Shrek: the musical,” he thought that just sounded like too much fun!! So, he auditioned, was cast in two small roles, and has been hooked ever since.

“White Christmas” marks the 16th show he has been privileged to appear in over the last 6 years, and he is having a blast!

Fun fact! During rehearsals for “Sister Act: the musical” recently, he was heard saying “I get to be a cop, a bar patron, and the Pope, all in one night. Where else do you get to do that, but in theatre!!”

Come see Robert in our production of “White Christmas” Running December 15th-17th at the Lancaster Performing Arts Center

We are officially ONE MONTH away from opening night of “White Christmas” and we are so excited to share this classic musical with you! Over the next month we will be highlighting our incredible cast and crew that have put in an incredible amount of work to create this beautiful show!

Today we are highlighting our wonderful choreographer, Robyn Hawley!

Robyn has studied dance part-time throughout high school and college. She competed at dance competitions like Showstoppers and Starbound and attended acting and dance intensives in New York City and Debbie Reynolds Dance Studio.

Robyn's love for the performing arts has allowed her to branch out in a variety of ways including choreographing for the City of Palmdale's dance program, dancing in several pieces for the Antelope Valley Mall, where she was the featured tap soloist for Salute to America, she's worked in various film and television as well as having the opportunity to perform in multiple musical theatre productions throughout the local community theatre groups. On top of all that, Robyn teaches at Dance Magic.
