CAST ANNOUNCEMENT!

Ohio University Lancaster Theatre, the Garret Players, and The Lancaster Playhouse are proud to present the cast of Rodgers & Hammerstein’s The Sound of Music!

This production marks the fifth collaboration between Ohio University Lancaster Theatre, the Garret Players, and the Lancaster Playhouse. We are thrilled to continue this wonderful partnership and bring another outstanding production to our community!

Congratulations to everyone who auditioned and to our incredible cast! We can't wait to bring this beloved musical to the stage.

Ohio University Lancaster Theatre, in collaboration with The Garret Players and The Lancaster Playhouse, invites actors ages 6 and older to audition for The Sound of Music.

What to Prepare

Adult Auditions

* One song from The Sound of Music using your own accompaniment track.
* Be prepared for cold readings from the script.
* Optional:
* A second musical theatre selection (16–32 bars) with your own accompaniment.
* A one-minute monologue.

Auditioning for the von Trapp Children

* Prepare “Do-Re-Mi” using a background track.
* Be prepared for cold readings from the script.

Callbacks will include readings and singing from the show.

About This Production

You can watch the stage version of The Sound of Music on Tubi. While similar to the 1965 film starring Julie Andrews, the stage musical includes several songs not featured in the movie.

Our production will include:

* An Ordinary Couple

Our production will not include “Something Good.”

Maria Rainer (Soprano)

A spirited young postulant with warmth, determination, and heart. Strong vocals and emotional depth required.

Captain Georg von Trapp (Baritone)

A disciplined naval officer and widowed father whose heart gradually opens. Strong actor with commanding stage presence.

Mother Abbess (Mezzo-Soprano)

Wise, compassionate leader of the abbey. Requires a powerful, mature singing voice.

Liesl von Trapp (Soprano)

The oldest von Trapp child, navigating first love and growing independence.

Auditions for “LES MISÉRABLES” at Ohio University Lancaster Theatre will be held January 14–16, 2027. Sign-ups open Monday, December 14, 2026, at 12 PM—mark your calendars!

Rehearsals begin: May 24, 2027

Limited conflicts will be accepted.

"Right Before I Go" is being presented during Su***de Awareness Month. The play deals directly with su***de and other difficult subjects. The material is raw, truthful, and emotionally direct, and the play does not shy away from difficult language or themes.

Social workers will be present before, during, and after the performance to provide support and resources.

If at any point during the show you feel uncomfortable, that’s okay. You can step out at any time and return when you’re ready.
