Well, that's another March gone by ... that's the 27th St. Paddy's Day season for Fire in the Glen! Our schedule is currently bare, no gigs upcoming, while Tom & Amanda sort out their future and find the right third person to complete the triangle. Stay tuned! (That said, Tom & Amanda ARE still performing as a duo, so don't hesitate to reach out if you're looking for entertainment!)

Our first performance this month was on Sunday at Lima UMC in Media.

It's very nearly March! While Fire in the Glen is USUALLY one of the busiest Irish bands in the region, typically playing 15-18 gigs throughout St. Patrick's Month, we are sadly still down a member, so Tom and Amanda are performing as a duo. Consequently, we have taken fewer (and less boisterous) gigs this year, although we still have high hopes that we'll be a trio again someday and will ramp up our schedule accordingly! Check out our schedule for March 2026 at our website, linked below.

Fire in the Glen is a traditional -- and very energetic -- Irish trio based in Lancaster, PA.

As a preview to Fort Hunter Day -- and as an oblique tip of the hat to Rod's final performance with the band -- Fire in the Glen will perform on Good Day PA (WHTM/ABC27) between 10 and 11 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 18. Check us out!

Well folks, Fire in the Glen has just ONE MORE SHOW with Rod manning the starboard microphone, so don't miss our show at Fort Hunter Park in Harrisburg on Sunday, Sept. 21 ... we're just one part of the Fort Hunter Days event, but be sure to stop by for our set from 1 to 1:50 p.m.!

Otherwise, the course ahead is still uncertain for remaining band members Tom & Amanda, both of whom would like to keep Fire in the Glen moving forward. Sadly, Rod does not appear likely to change his mind on this matter. Although they enjoy performing sometimes as a duo, Tom & Amanda would prefer to retain the trio format for most performances ... but a prospective new third member is proving elusive. So let's put it out there again!

Fire in the Glen is looking for someone who meets the following criteria: 1) You enjoy playing Scots-Irish music and don't mind getting energetic on stage. 2) You sing well enough to carry lead vocals on some songs and, preferably, can do harmonies with Amanda on others. 3) You play an instrument other than the fiddle or drum. The ability to carry the melody sometimes would be best, performing in a trio with a guitar and fiddle (or, sometimes, bodhran). We're openminded about what that instrument could be; past incarnations of the band have included bagpipes, pennywhistles, keyboard, mandolin, harmonica and cello. Surprise us! 4) You enjoy making extra cash, especially in March and December. 5) You are able to withstand Tom's on-stage jokes and puns without groaning audibly.

Do you meet these qualifications? Do you live somewhere in the general Lancaster/York/Harrisburg/Reading area and are you willing to travel to gigs in that vicinity? Are you willing to rehearse with band at LEAST once per year, and occasionally tune your instrument? If so, drop us a line! Contact us through Facebook at https://www.facebook.com/Fireintheglen or send Tom an email directly at [email protected].

Fire in the Glen has been making music since 1999. Let's not end the tradition here!!

Since the grim days of COVID, the lineup of Fire in the Glen has been Tom, Amanda & Rod ... but sadly, piper Rod Nevin is leaving the band later this month. We have THREE shows remaining with Rod in the band (links in the comments) so please come out to say goodbye and see this incarnation of the band one more time! (Or two, or three....)

At this point, the future of Fire in the Glen, post-Rod, is still up in the air. Stay tuned to see what happens next!

Fire in the Glen is very sorry to announce that Rod Nevin – singer, piper, pennywhistler and box-stomper – has decided to leave the band at the end of September. Rod joined FitG in 2020, during the height of COVID, and has been a valued member of the trio ever since. He has seriously upped the band's Scottish game and has tickled the fancy of quite a few audience members with his regimental kilts. He will be missed.

You can still catch him with the band in New Holland on July 30 and at a handful of shows in September.

Rod leaves behind two-thirds of the trio – Amanda Wells, singer and guitarist, who rejoined the band in 2020 after two previous outings with the band, and founding member Tom Knapp, fiddler and bodhranist (and occasional shouter), who started Fire in the Glen way back in 1999 and has been with the band through all 10 iterations. Tom and Amanda have not yet decided if they want to remake the band again, so have decided to leave it to the Fates to decide.

Is there, in south-central Pennsylvania, a traditional Scots-Irish musician who 1) sings, 2) plays at least one melody instrument other than the fiddle, 3) likes energetic music, 4) is not shy about performing in front of a crowd, 5) doesn't mind hanging out sometimes in pubs, libraries, churches, retirement communities and municipal parks, and 6) is nice to fellow musicians and will occasionally buy them a round.

If you think you might be that person, contact Fire in the Glen through Tom or Amanda and we'll see what develops!!!
