The Roswell Mini K87 is a large-diaphragm condenser designed around Roswell’s take on the classic K67/K87 u87 capsule family.
It’s one of the most neutral microphones in our locker, with a smooth, natural top end instead of intentionally hyping the highs.
Roswell individually tunes its 34mm K87 capsule so the response around 9–10 kHz stays within 1 dB of its response at 1 kHz, which is a big reason it stays so balanced.
The K87 is solid-state and transformerless, using an electronically balanced circuit designed for low distortion and transparency.
Every Mini K87 is individually hand-tuned in Roswell’s California shop against their reference “gold master” K87, rather than simply being assembled and sent out.

The Roswell Mini K47x combines Roswell’s K47/K49-style capsule with a circuit specifically designed to add some vintage-style character.
It has a forward, detailed midrange with extra harmonic richness and slightly softened transients as you push more level into it.
That happens because the K47-style capsule supplies the midrange character while the circuit is intentionally gain-staged so moderate SPLs begin pushing it into gentle harmonic saturation.
The K47x is solid-state, but unlike the K87 it is transformer-coupled, using a single-stage JFET circuit and Roswell’s oversized T7 output transformer.
The “x” in K47x literally refers to that transformer-coupled circuit, and Roswell designed it to evoke some of the richness and softened transients associated with vintage European tube microphones and analog tape.

The Peluso P-12 is Peluso Microphone Lab’s take on one of the most famous tube microphones ever made, the vintage AKG C12.
It sounds big, smooth and polished while still having the open, airy top end that makes this style of microphone so good at bringing vocals forward.
A 34mm edge-terminated capsule and 6072A tube amplifier are a huge part of that combination of openness, body and detail.
The P-12 is a true tube microphone with a custom-wound output transformer.
Its inspiration, the original AKG C12, was built from 1953–1963, and the P-12 even recreates its ability to remotely select nine different polar patterns from the power supply.

The AKG C414 XLS is the modern descendant of one of the longest-running studio microphone families in recording history.
It’s clean, detailed and intentionally neutral, making it less about imposing a strong personality and more about accurately capturing whatever you put in front of it.
AKG specifically engineered the XLS for high linearity and based its sonic character on the classic C414 B-ULS, rather than the brighter voicing found in some other 414 variants.
The C414 XLS is a solid-state, transformerless condenser microphone rather than a tube design.
What makes the 414 especially versatile is that it gives us nine selectable polar patterns, three pad levels and three bass-cut settings in a single microphone.

The Shure SM7B is the oddball of our mic locker: instead of being a condenser, it’s a moving-coil dynamic microphone built for extremely close, controlled vocal capture.
It sounds smooth, dense and controlled, naturally taking some edge off a voice compared with the faster, more revealing condenser microphones in the locker.
A big part of that comes from its dynamic cartridge, cardioid design, internal air-suspension isolation and acoustic filtering, which give it its characteristic smooth response and excellent rejection.
There’s no tube or active FET amplifier here—the SM7B is a passive dynamic microphone, which is also why it produces far less output than most studio condensers and often wants a lot of preamp gain.
Its family tree goes back to the original SM7, and the design became famous not only in broadcasting but in major studio recordings—making it one of the rare microphones equally at home in front of a radio host or a singer.

The Sony C-100 is Sony’s flagship high-resolution studio condenser and one of the most technologically unusual microphones in our locker.
It sounds extremely detailed, fast and open on top, with a modern clarity that can make a vocal feel almost larger than life.
That sound comes largely from its unusual two-way capsule system, which combines separate large- and small-diaphragm capsules and extends its frequency response all the way to 50 kHz.
The C-100 is a solid-state, transformerless condenser, so there’s no tube or output transformer adding additional coloration.
The coolest part is that Sony developed it as the beginning of its new 100 Series—the company’s first new recording-microphone series since the era that produced the legendary C-800G—and its body vibration-control design is actually derived from the C-800G.

The Roswell Colares is Roswell Pro Audio’s flagship vocal condenser, inspired by the character of the legendary Telefunken ELA M 251.
It sounds big, open and harmonically rich, with plenty of detail and a “finished” character that can make a vocal sound like you’ve already started processing it.
That character comes from its 34mm edge-terminated capsule and deliberately saturating single-stage JFET circuit, which Roswell designed to create harmonic color rather than absolute transparency.
The Colares is not a tube mic—it’s a solid-state FET design with a custom-wound output transformer, giving it tube-inspired color without actually using a tube.
One of the coolest features is its pad/voicing switch: engaging it doesn’t simply make the mic quieter, it also reduces the harmonic coloration, essentially giving the Colares a cleaner second personality.

The Peluso P-67 is Peluso Microphone Lab’s interpretation of the legendary Neumann U 67.
It gives you a full, rich and smooth sound with a focused midrange, controlled top end and a solid low end that works especially well when a vocal needs body without excessive brightness.
Its character comes from a 34mm center-terminated K67-style capsule feeding an EF95 vacuum-tube amplifier stage, following the basic design philosophy of the vintage U 67.
The P-67 is a true tube microphone with a custom-wound output transformer.
The original U 67 introduced features that seem completely normal today—including a low-frequency roll-off and -10 dB pad—and Peluso built the P-67 as a tribute to that 1960-era studio workhorse.
