This machine represents the last in a long line of baseball machines produced by Williams. The infamous Mark Ritchie designed this machine and, compared to the older games, it shows the advancement electronic baseball machines have gone through. The national anthem starts your game; the sounds of the stadium make you feel you’re at a game complete with popcorn vendors and hecklers. Missing a target scores a strike or ball. Pinch hitters, when activated, give a no-out safe haven for one hit. Bases loaded with two outs brings up the heckler. If you score a grand slam, you are rewarded with baseball cards (operator adjustable) and sometimes free innings. Feeding the machine allows up to nine innings. Steal a base by tapping quickly!

A real test of batting skill! This woodrail pitch and bat game was advertised as “the finest baseball game we [Williams] have ever built!” It can be played by one player or two head to head. One player pitches while the other is at bat. The pitcher can throw either a fastball or, through the magic of a hidden magnet, a curve ball. Watch the players run the bases in the backglass as you hit singles, doubles and triples. Bat the ball up one of the red ramps to launch it “over the fence” for a home run! Three strikes and you’re out. With two outs and the bases loaded, the pinch hitter is called to bat. Any hit scored by the pinch hitter is a grand slam! This feature makes it anybody’s game, where the underdog can come back at the last moment.

This is the rarest of three licensed Beatles pinball machines that were released in 2018. Only 100 “Diamond Edition” games were produced, and they sold for premium prices. 250 Platinum Editions and 1614 Gold Editions were made. The total number of games is 1964, which is the year when the Beatles famously first appeared on the Ed Sullivan Show. Each of the three editions features different Beatles artwork, but otherwise the games are very similar. The playfield layout was copied from a previous game named “Seawitch” which was released in 1980. Nine different Beatles songs make up the sound track, and the voices of Ed Sullivan and DJ “Cousin” Brucie can also be heard from time to time. Originally there was a clause in the license agreement that prohibited the machines from being manufactured with coin doors, but it was dropped at the last minute and all games were sold with coin doors included. An earlier unlicensed Beatles themed game was released by Williams in 1967, which featured cartoon-like drawings of the four famous musicians on the backglass and a purposely misspelled band name: “The Bootles”

This bowling themed machine designed by Norm Clark (his first design by the way) is a classic complete with gobble holes, center shooter, five special shots, and four polished chrome flippers (a first!). 1,250 of these beauties were fabricated. The rules of engagement center on scoring strikes by completing all ten center playfield rollovers or by completing ten spares by hitting the lit targets and appropriate rollovers. Completing two strikes alternatively lights the gobble holes to score a special if hit. Three strikes scores one another replay and lights the top center rollover for a special. Each strike scored past the three strikes awards another replay. If you’re skillful enough to score all ten spares, the bottom drains light alternately to score a special if hit. This single player game is fast paced and symmetrical in layout, but a challenge to play. Completing a strike is not as easy as one might envision as each rollover must be hit correctly to score each pin. Your progress may be seen on the backglass as to what pins are needed to complete each strike. Not a classic game of ten pin, but a pinball version of the game.

This game is considered to be the #3 game of the ’70s. It was released in June, designed by Greg Kmiec and art by Dave Christensen. It had a production run of 16,200 units, a record to that date for production by Bally. The game has a rock star tie in the form of Elton John, who was
at his peak back then. The movie “Tommy” was also an influence for the game’s graphics. The triple flipper arrangement of the game made for
fast action on the playfield. A bonus feature is present, a 5-bank drop target that, when hit, advances through extra ball and then special. A free ball gate, when activated, extends the ball’s life. This game is one of the last most collectible electromechanical-era games produced. It was the complementary game to Bally’s Wizard pinball which, again, found its theme based on the “Tommy” movie by The Who. Celebrity tie-ins were found to be big sellers.
