Tomorrow and Saturday are the final days to visit the Demuth home and Museum. My good friend and talented artist's lifes work is on exhibition. This is a tribute to his talent and life cut too short. Love in heaven Michael Tymon!

Please respect covid precautions and make a reservation through the Demuth foundation.

It's the final week to view 'Michael Tymon: A Life in Art' at the Demuth Museum! The Demuth Foundation is honored to be part of Michael Murphy Tymon’s (1984-2019) story and host 'Michael Tymon: A Life in Art.' The 34 pieces on display as part of this exhibition demonstrate Tymon’s ability to work in a variety of mediums, and is a celebration of a passionate young artist whose work continues to impact lives.

'Michael Tymon: A Life in Art' closes Saturday, November 14. We are currently near capacity for Friday, but a few time slots remain to view the show on Saturday! It is with great sadness we share the tragic loss of a wonderfully talented young man whose passion for the arts, especially painting and sculpture is simply immeasurable. Michael Murphy Tymon, you have left us far too soon. The canvas is still wet and the sculpture tools; still warm from your touch. The hours you have spent in the studio studying form, texture and pose has left an indelible mark on the hearts of all whom you've shared this studio and this community.

Our deepest condolences to your family - parents, brothers, sisters, cousins. You are in our prayers in this most difficult time.

May you find peace in the memories of Mike, his great love for the arts, his sense of humor and great smile.

We're pleased to announce that Keystone Art has a new tenant sharing our space. Along with the artisans and craftsman space we're housing Refugee Makers Project and now the folks who run Commonwealth on Queen are operating a commercial kitchen here as well.....eventually a Cafe, open to the public will take shape as well. Stay tuned for that component.

ART... we'll be getting the art programming rolling again real soon too.... extending our murals, opening up classes again and hopefully bringing in some new technology as well....whose up for 3D printing!

all of this is not without the help of Community First Fund! We're grateful for the assistance from a number of sources to keep the arts alive and bring new things to the west side of Lancaster City.

What is happening?

Well, we conceptualized a cafe, catering space and spacious commercial kitchen within and in conjunction with the 2000sf gallery. We've added two new spacious bathrooms as well. We are in the final phases of construction right now. Soon you'll also see a revised curb appearance and greenery as well. Stay tuned....

No worries all the great art and craft creative space in the studio and foundry remains.

When the dust settles we'll have some big announcements and will add an artist or two as well.

Thanks everyone for sticking with us since Dec. 2003! Wow.

PSSST.... NEWS AT KEYSTONE. We're building and expanding!

After a long slowdown we are on the move again with a new development taking shape at Keystone Art.

A CAFE!!!

The idea is one that we have long envisioned and one that took years to come to reality due in part to finding just the right creative partners! We've done just that....

The good folks at Commonwealth On Queen are joining forces with us here on Pearl St....Queen St for Commonwealth remains open and this location on Pearl is an expansion for their operations.... Eventually after things are up and running we may see some outdoor seating!

TODAY at 4pm in city hall (council chambers) a zoning hearing will be held to discuss the opening of a catering kitchen and cafe establishment at 420 Pearl street (at Prangley Ave) the application is last on the list of 7 applicants so while the meeting starts at 4 our application will be discussed last so not certain of the exact time.

Neighbors, Friends and residents are urged to attend the meeting to express their support of the cafe as a new venture in this part of the city where so few cafes, restaurants or stores exist.

We see this as one more step to raise the profile of not only Pearl St but of the West end, and Keystone Art as great assets to the City.

The Arts Continue!!!! As you know we have maintained an art studio and gallery at this location since 2004. The studio will remain using only a portion of the gallery for the cafe/kitchen operation. We hope to be back in the swing of new classes within a few months when the dust of the new ventures settle. In the meantime some great things still remain at Keystone like the Refugee Makers Project and the studio of artist and craftsperson Kati Gruber.

We hope our friends and residents see the value in having a place in the neighborhood to have lunch or just to have a cup of coffee.

Hope to see a few folks out in support at the meeting TODAY. If you can't make the meeting be sure to stay tuned and support Rachael and Mark when they are up and running.

Thank you for more than a decade of support! Stay Tuned.

George Mummert, Executive Director

“I have been incredibly blessed by learning to know my Somali and Iraqi friends in Lancaster. We have shared much about each other’s culture, enjoyed some excellent food, and together gained understanding and respect for those who are different than us.”
