I graduated from Roberto-Venn School of Luthiery in 2002, and from Indiana University with a degree in String Instrument Technology in 2009.

Here's a dreadnought I've been building since this spring. The neck isn't glued and there's still some prep work, but it's ready for some lacquer. I'm in the process of moving about 20 miles away to Kempner. I'll have more space out there and will get a clean room ready to spray lacquer. I bought a buffing wheel from a retired luthier so I'm ready to finish this thing. It'll be shiny and have strings pretty soon. I made one acoustic guitar at guitar building school in 2002. I've made bass guitars, a mandola, studied violin building and made 3 violins. I've helped build a bunch of instruments while working for former employers, but this will be the first acoustic guitar with my name on it.

I spent the last few days cutting pearl. Finally done. I glue 2 layers of pearl together to make it a little sturdier when cutting the skinny parts, that's why there's double. Now I have to inlay them in a fretboard...

This is a circa 1970 Kay resonator guitar. It got a new armadillo, and most of a Gibson fern, headstock inlay. The armadillo and fretboard dots were cut from Fordite. Fordite is old paint from the Ford factory floor. Fun stuff. It was also refretted with new Stewmac gold fretwire, the fingerboard extension shimmed, neck refit, new tuners, the metal shined up, a red bone nut, and the back of the neck was stripped, smoothed, grain filled, and tung oiled. 1929 Gibson TB-1 Mastertone Banjo. Sweet old banjo. It was originally a 4 string banjo, but the neck was replaced by Frank Neat a long time ago. I relocated the screws in the heel so the neck would be flush with the rim. The heel also had to be recarved to fit the fl**ge. The neck was refit to correct the angle and lower the action, and the resonator neck pocket was carved to to allow for the new location. Please contact me for all your string instrument repair needs. Lowden 022C. Made in Ireland. These guitars are incredible. The top is made of cedar and almost 6 mm thick. That's thick. It had a fabulous tone. After a minor neck adjustment and .5 mm removed from the bottom of the saddles it was a little easier to play. It also got a gold strap button. A violin by Kurt Gütter of Markneukirchen, Germany. Built in 1927 and modeled after Stradivarius. This is a great violin by a great maker. Excellent craftsmanship and beautiful varnish. It got a new fingerboard, nut, bridge, tailpiece, seams glued, cracks inspected, alcohol polished, and some bare wood on the edges got a little varnish. A fantastic Gibson Hummingbird. I did some digging and believe that it was built in 1969. The serial numbers Gibson used in this era are not to be trusted so you have to look for things like the dot above the i. This guitar got a full refret, the bridge removed and reglued, the adjustable saddle repaired and replaced with a graphtec saddle, some bracing and the pickguard glued, new bone nut, new K&K pickup, and a good clean and polish. 1969 Flamenco guitar by Jose Lopez Bellido of Grenada, Spain. Beautiful guitar.
