In this we accidentally 'ran into' a great little Painting that began with a great Idea, and we see that the Artist had the chops to pull it off. He made a great Work of Art! ...but are all Paintings that begin with a good idea 'great'? ....maybe not so much.... ..to be continued!

This Museum Mondays Reel focuses on a fantastic Painting by James Tissot found at the Clark Art Institute in Williamstown MA. There's more to this Painting than meets the eye... Though Tissot likely could have been a very successful STRICT Classic Academic Realist Painter- we can see in his brushwork, color, and subject matter how he is influenced by the burgeoning Impressionists and their avant-garde movement.

Today's Museum Mondays uses Van Gogh to examine how Context around a Work of Art can heighten appreciation for it, and add even greater pleasure to an Artful Experience 😊
