Today is the final day to send video submissions for our Season 88 General Auditions.

All applicants will be considered for roles throughout the season, with specific callbacks for each production.

Lakewood Playhouse strongly encourages performers of all ethnicities, gender identities and abilities to audition. We are committed to thinking outside the box, breaking the rules and expanding who and how we tell stories! Join us!

The productions that make up our 2026/2027 season are: Festival Of New Voices 2026, Kiss Of The Spider Woman, The Docent (world premiere), Where Blooming Flowers Meet The Sky, Luchadora!, Topdog/Underdog, Savage Saints (world premiere), and Come From Away.

In-person places are now full, but you can still submit a video audition until the end of today. For consideration for plays you should record a one minute monologue from a play that you love and, if you wish to be considered for musicals, 32 bars of your favorite musical theatre song as well.

General auditions are for 16+, we will hold individual auditions for any show that requires younger performers.

Season tickets to our 2026/2027 productions are on sale now!

Heroism doesn’t always wear a cape. Sometimes it looks like survival. Sometimes it’s choosing love in the face of fear, telling the truth when silence feels safer, or daring to imagine a different future. In a world that often asks us to look away, this season invites us to look closer - at the quiet, complicated, and deeply human acts of courage that shape our lives.

From the intimate confines of a prison in KISS OF THE SPIDER WOMAN, where fantasy becomes a lifeline and connection becomes resistance, to the living history of THE DOCENT, where friendship blooms amid the uncertainty of a changing world, these stories remind us that heroism often begins in vulnerability. In LUCHADORA!, a young girl steps into the ring - literally and figuratively - to fight for her family and her identity, while WHERE BLOOMING FLOWERS MEET THE SKY explores the bravery it takes to find one’s voice across generations of struggle and legacy.

The Pulitzer Prize-winning TOPDOG/UNDERDOG examines the fierce, fragile bonds of brotherhood and the courage required to confront the truths we inherit, while SAVAGE SAINTS bears witness to the enduring strength of survivors reckoning with history’s deepest wounds. Finally, COME FROM AWAY celebrates a global moment of compassion, where ordinary people chose extraordinary kindness in the face of tragedy.

Together, these works illuminate the many forms heroism can take - defiant, tender, joyful, and enduring. This season, we celebrate the heroic acts that remind us who we are, what we owe each other, and what becomes possible when we choose courage.

Carrie The Musical is now playing at Lakewood Playhouse through June 28th!

"Lakewood Playhouse reminds us that representation, humanistic experience through storytelling, revolving historic evolution and KINDNESS are all things that will be overlooked if we keep repeating history, unless we make change that holds strong for generations to come. I recommend coming to see Carrie The Musical and succumbing to a much different version/meaning behind the beloved King novel and movie." - The Sound On Stage

Final performances are on Friday and Saturday at 7:30pm, with a Sunday matinee at 2:00pm. There is also a Pay What You Can/Industry Night performance on Sunday, June 28th at 7:30pm. Call the Box Office at (253) 588-0042 or visit www.lakewoodplayhouse.org to book your tickets online.

CARRIE THE MUSICAL
Music by Michael Gore
Lyrics by Dean Pitchford
Book by Lawrence D. Cohen
Based on the novel by Stephen King
Directed by Joseph C. Walsh

Please note: this production contains flashing lights, loud sound effects and some strong language.

"Kaelynn Miller's performance as Carrie was so powerful and emotionally honest that it brought me to tears. She captured Carrie's vulnerability and pain so completely that I found myself rooting for her throughout the entire show, and her transformation from frightened outcast to someone reclaiming her power was moving and rightfully haunting." - Deanna - Audience Member
