Hope everyone is staying safe and warm this Sunday.
Today's singer spotlight is on Kaitlyn Price! Kaitlyn sang the Alto 1 solo for Et Misericordia during our concert in December.
Kaitlyn has been a part of our choir since the spring of 2024 and has sung with Mike previously as one of his former students at Avon Lake High School. Her favorite memory with the choir so far has been performing at Severance Hall with the Suburban Symphony. Kaitlyn adds, “It was a once‑in‑a‑lifetime experience to be able to perform Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony on the stage that so many talented musicians, orchestras, and choirs have performed on!”
Kaitlyn believes the arts, especially music, are incredibly beneficial to all, and she sees this firsthand through her work as a nurse. As she plays music or hums to her young patients, she watches their demeanor change. They become calmer and more focused. The babies stop crying and slow their breathing into a more gentle pace.
Kaitlyn shares, “I am just so blessed to be able to sing, share my talents, and do something I love!”
We are blessed to have you as part of our group, Kaitlyn!

This Sunday singer spotlight is dedicated to Nina, one of our Soprano II’s, who passed away peacefully on January 6th.

As well as singing with us, she also sang with the Rocky River Community Chorus, and the St Christopher Church Choir. Nina also contributed to music and the arts through her work as an usher at Severance Hall and the Playhouse Square. At 94, Nina continued to live her life to the fullest as she ushered at the Playhouse Square the Friday before she passed!

Within the West Shore Chorale, Nina took charge of our CD sales for each concert. While recalling fond memories of Nina, one of our members smiled and remembered when Nina would collect money for our CD sales she would always remind us to put the cash “In. An. Envelope.” With the same energy she probably used with her students during her years as a teacher!

Another member shared that they were blessed to sit next to Nina during rehearsals a few seasons ago, and that she enjoyed listening to Nina’s stories of when she had traveled with the choir to England many years ago.

We are grateful to have had Nina be a part of our choir for so many years!

Happy Sunday! It’s time for another singer spotlight!
We are grateful for Megan, one of our soloists from our concert who sang the soprano I solo during “Et Misericordia”! Megan has been part of the West Shore Chorale since September 2013, and her favorite memory of the West Shore Chorale includes singing in the historic churches around Cleveland!
Megan believes that “Music – and the arts as a whole - are essential because they speak in a language deeper than words. Music is a universal tongue, understood across cultures and even across species. It carries emotion with an honesty nothing else can match. Through music, we can connect to one another and to ourselves in ways that transcend time, place, and spoken language.”
Thank you for all you do for the West Shore Chorale Megan!

Happy Sunday! Let's take a moment to appreciate Kathryn, one of our soloists from our recent concert!

Kathryn beautifully sang the Pifa of Handel’s Messiah. She is one of our soprano II’s and joined our group in January 2020!
The most memorable piece for Kathryn is Randall Thompson’s “The Peaceable Kingdom”, but her favorite piece to sing with us was Bach’s “Magnificat”!
When asked why music is important, Kathryn stated: “Music is so important because it moves us and connects us in ways nothing else can. Music can create a sense of belonging, and gives people space to express themselves authentically.”

Thank you for being a part of our group and sharing your voice with us Kathryn!
