SoCal Lightning Sprints were in the lineup this past weekend with “Race for Heroes-Stars on Cars” double header at Barona Speedway. Stars with fallen Heroes were placed on the race cars this weekend in honor of Memorial Day. I have two on my car representing my great uncle PFC Kelly Wayne Weitzel 💜 and my grandfather James Lee Weitzel. Both served in Vietnam War. Both gave some…one gave all.

Race weekend recap, unfortunately not the greatest race weekend for KWRacing. Didn’t make the heat Day 1, started in the back for the main, finishing 12th. Day 2 started on the pole for heat race, had such a good start, until I pushed up in 2 and a caution for a complete restart. Well restart wasn’t as impressive as the original start. Finished the heat race. Started the main 11th and unfortunately broke some time during the race as a caution came out. Not sure exactly what it was but thinking something to do with the chain tensioner, as doing caution laps I was contemplating to pull into the hot pits or go for it at the restart. Well I decided to stay out. Restart came and so did the hot pits. After the race got back to the pits and checked the chain tensioner and sure enough that was the problem.

Well get fixed and ready to give it our all next race.

❤️ 🤍 💙 🇺🇸 Memorial Day is about honoring and remembering our fallen soldiers. My dad was named after his uncle who is a fallen soldier of the Vietnam War. PFC KELLY WAYNE WEITZEL 💜.
Both my great uncle and my grandfather served in the Vietnam War. One came home and one did not.
