ATTENTION FIGURE SKATERS & LEARN TO SKATE FAMILIES
The Polk Athletic Complex (PAC) is a nonprofit organization led by a volunteer Board of Directors with one primary mission: to keep ice sports thriving in Polk County by providing quality, affordable programs for our community. All revenue generated at the rink goes directly back into operating and improving the facility and its programs.
Now, we are excited to turn our attention toward our Figure Skating and Learn to Skate programs.
FIGURE SKATING THROUGH PAC
Effective September 21, PAC will begin directly managing and operating all Figure Skating and Learn to Skate programming at the rink.
Our goal is simple: provide excellent instruction, create more opportunities for skaters to grow, and reduce costs for our skating families whenever possible.
We are establishing new leadership for our skating programs and building a strong coaching team committed to creating a positive, encouraging, and fun environment while developing strong skating fundamentals at every level.
LEARN TO SKATE
PAC will now offer two weekday Learn to Skate sessions — Tuesdays and Wednesdays — providing families with greater flexibility and more opportunities to get on the ice. We will also maintain the Saturday Learn to Skate session for additional time for fun and learning, adults and children alike.
Our program will guide skaters from their very first steps on the ice through the Basic Skills and Free Skate levels. Class sizes will be limited so skaters receive quality instruction, and experienced coaches will teach each class.
And because improvement happens with time on the ice, every skater registered for Learn to Skate will receive five complimentary public skating passes to use during any PAC public skating session.
FIGURE SKATING
PAC will continue offering a similar schedule of dedicated figure skating ice while restructuring our group programming to provide additional opportunities for skill development and skater progression.
Private lessons, group instruction, and dedicated practice ice will all continue to be available.
OUR COMMITMENT TO OUR SKATERS
We understand that skaters develop meaningful relationships with their coaches and that any transition can take some adjustment. Our priority throughout this process is to make the transition as positive as possible for our skating families.
We are adding experienced coaches to our team and building a program centered around what we believe youth sports should provide: quality instruction, strong skill development, encouragement, sportsmanship and — most importantly — a place where kids enjoy coming to the rink.
Whether your skater is stepping onto the ice for the very first time, working through Basic Skills, or continuing to develop as a competitive figure skater, there is a place for them at PAC.
We are excited about what is ahead and look forward to growing the skating community together.
