We took the side cases from these dumpling toys, put them under the xTool F2 Ultra UV, and engraved them to make each one PERSONALIZED. 😳

Names. Initials. Small designs. Custom touches.

That means a fun little toy can turn into something that actually feels like YOUR toy instead of one pulled straight off the shelf.

🔥 EAT OR STARVE — MADE RIGHT HERE IN THE STARVED ROCK AREA! 🔥

Okay, this one came out pretty darn cool. 👀

We took a simple bamboo cutting/serving board and turned it into THIS using the xTool F2 Ultra UV.

The detail the laser pulled out of this design is what gets me — from the small lines in the artwork all the way down to those BIG letters:

EAT OR STARVE! 😂

And yes… anybody who grew up hearing “This isn’t a restaurant — you eat what I made or you don’t eat!” probably needs this hanging in their kitchen. 😂

🪨 **THIS is why I clear-coat slate BEFORE engraving it.**

Look at how clean that came out. 👀

These slate coasters were clear-coated first and then engraved using the **xTool F2 Ultra UV**.

The UV laser gives me the fine detail I want, but what has really helped when I'm doing customer orders is the **new Auto Mode**.

When I'm batching several coasters, I can lay them out, set up the file and keep production moving without treating every single coaster like a completely separate job.

⚡ **Clear coat → Batch → Engrave → Rinse → Wrap → Customer ready.**

After engraving, I simply rinse/wipe away the slate dust with a little water, let the coaster dry and wrap it in tissue paper or bubble wrap.

Done. ✅

🪨 SLATE COASTER TIP — THIS IS ALWAYS MY FIRST STEP!

Before I ever put a slate coaster under the laser, I like to seal it first.

For these, I’m using Krylon COLORmaxx Clear Gloss, but I’ve also used a clear tile/stone sealer. I give the slate a nice, even coat before engraving.

Why do I do it? I’ve found that sealing the slate first helps give me a cleaner-looking finished coaster and better contrast once it’s engraved. It also starts protecting that slate surface right from the beginning.

💡 Another little shop trick:
See that foam underneath the coasters? Don’t throw that stuff away! 😂

That’s actually a piece of the packing foam that came with one of my xTool machines. I reuse it as a little spraying surface. It keeps the coasters up off the table and lets any extra clear coat or drips fall down instead of pooling around the bottom edges.

Sometimes the best shop tools are the things that came in the box for free!

My process:
Slate → Clear Coat/Sealer → Let It Fully Dry → Laser Engrave → Finished Coaster

I’ll show the engraving step next so you can see how these turn out.

We made this custom pet coaster for a customer using the xTool F2 Ultra UV, and this is exactly why we love doing personalized pieces. A regular slate coaster can turn into something meaningful when it has their pet’s face, name, or a special saying on it.

This was a fun material test because Bakelite has a unique look and feel, and it opens the door for custom engraved pieces, name plates, tags, gifts, keepsakes, and other creative projects. We love seeing how different materials react and what kind of clean detail we can pull out with the xTool F2 Ultra UV.

We’ve been testing the xTool F2 Ultra UV on different materials, and this time we worked with brass trophy plates.

These plates are great for awards, memorials, name plates, shadow boxes, custom signs, business tags, gift plaques, and keepsake projects. The F2 Ultra UV handled the engraving beautifully, and we even tested cutting the brass plate material to size for the project.

That is one of the things we love about working with the xTool — we can take a plain piece of material and turn it into something personal, useful, and professional-looking.
