What does it mean to be a Fair Faire?
The magic of a festival should never come at the expense of the people who create it.
The Celtic Winter Faire’s Fair Faire Pledge is our commitment to building an event that treats performers, vendors, staff, and guests fairly.
That means:
• Fair pay for all. Our performers, characters, musicians, and staff are paid for their work. We do not build the faire around unpaid labour, volunteers, or “exposure.”
• Performers are not expected to pass the hat. They are contracted and compensated for what they bring to Dunsky.
• One ticket, full experience. Admission includes 100% of our in-house programming, with only very limited exceptions such as tournament entry fees. Archery, Blacksmithing, Sword Classes, Games etc are all free.
• Vendor fees support the faire. Site fees are reinvested into marketing and promotion to help bring more guests through the gates and more traffic to our merchants.
• Fair employers get priority. Our vendor jury gives preference to businesses that fairly compensate their own staff.
• Accessibility matters from the beginning. Every booth and activity can be reached by concrete or asphalt paths so guests with mobility needs can participate throughout the faire.
Fantasy should inspire, not exploit.
The Fair Faire Pledge is one of the ways the Celtic Winter Faire works to make the magic better for everyone who helps create it and everyone who comes to experience it.
