PASS IT DOWN: NORTH CAROLINA YOUTH HUNTING WEEKEND
This Saturday and Sunday, September 26–27, belong to the next generation of North Carolina hunters.
North Carolina established its first statewide Youth Deer Hunting Day in 2015 to increase interest in deer hunting, give young hunters a better opportunity for success and remind adults how important it is to get our children involved. What began as one Saturday has now grown into a full weekend for youth under 16.
But this weekend is about much more than harvesting a deer.
Take them with you—even though they may whisper a little louder than they think they are, move around more than they should, ask a hundred questions or scare the deer away before they ever have a chance to take a shot.
Because one day, you’ll miss those questions.
The traditions we love will not pass themselves down. Someone has to slow down, make room in the stand and teach the next generation about safety, patience, conservation, respect for the animal and where their food comes from.
If a deer is harvested, that’s just the icing on the cake. The real success is the experience, the time together and the memories they’ll carry long after the weekend is over.
To celebrate Youth Hunting Weekend at Dixie:
👕 Every youth hunter under 16 who drops off a whole deer with us Saturday or Sunday will receive a FREE Dixie shirt while supplies last.
📸 Harvest or no harvest, post a picture of any part of your youth day in the comments. Every youth who participates can be entered into a free drawing for a $200 Dixie gift card. We’ll choose the winner Monday.
A doe, a small buck, a trophy buck or no deer at all—we want to celebrate every child who gets outside and takes part.
Take the kid. Pack the snacks. Answer the questions. Make the memories.
Pass it down. 🧡
