They are the reason why we need, a bigger shelter for them all.

Lake Pan Strays ~ Created By Lucy Jones

They wander the streets of Panasoffkee,
With no home or family.
They sniff the air for food and love,
But find only trash and blood.

They are the stray dogs of the town,
With fur of grey and black and brown.
They have no collars or tags or names,
All they have is their wounds and their pains.

They sleep under the bridge or trees,
Or anywhere they can flee.
They dream of bones and balls and treats,
But wake up to guns and beats.

They are the stray dogs of the lake,
With hearts of stone and souls of break.
They have no owners or friends and few who care,
All THEY have is their fear and their despair.
