Spotlight on 2026 Grads: SALEM YELTON will graduate from Sherwood HS and attend Portland State University School of Music & Theater with a focus on Education.

Salem's Spotlight journey (3 years, Travel Troupe 2026) has included tremendous growth as a musical theatre storyteller, especially as a dancer. Making strong character choices both vocally and physically is Salem's specialty however, what shines the brightest is Salem's creative and kind heart. Salem has continuously gone the extra mile, orchestrating projects, gifts, and treats to ensure every team member was included. Salem, thank you for being brave enough to step into the Spotlight with us. We will miss your spark but we know your tenacity, passion, and ability to keep saying YES, are going to take you so, so far. Break a leg!

✨ We love seeing our staff shine on stage! ✨

Our incredible Conservatory Choreographer, Chynna Rae Shurts, is currently performing in the ensemble of Once Upon a Mattress at Broadway Rose Theatre Company! 💜 Chynna brings her signature energy, precision, and storytelling to every performance, and we are so proud to see her talents lighting up the stage.

Once Upon a Mattress is a charming and hilarious musical comedy set in a kingdom where no one can marry until the prince finds a suitable bride. After a long line of “perfect” princesses fail to meet the impossible standards of Queen Aggravain, the bold and unconventional Princess Winnifred the Woebegone arrives and shakes up the entire court. With quirky characters, playful humor, and heartfelt moments, the show celebrates individuality and the courage to be yourself.

Chynna’s work both on stage and in the studio reflects her passion for helping performers connect movement with storytelling, and we love seeing that artistry come to life in this joyful production.

✨ Please welcome Emma Greene - Director & Choreographer of Oceans Of Fun! ✨

Emma is a recent graduate of Lewis & Clark College, where she earned degrees in Theatre Performance with Honors and Psychology. She brings experience as both a performer and director, with recent credits including No Exit, Much Ado About Nothing, and For the Love of Three Oranges, along with standout roles in Waitress, Cabaret, and Romeo & Juliet.

With over a decade of experience working with young people, Emma is passionate about helping each student build confidence and discover their unique voice. We’re so excited to have her join our team and can’t wait for the joy and creativity she’ll bring to our students this summer! 💜

On May 30th, 13 Spotlight students, staff, and parents attended Funny Girl at Lakewood Theatre Company. After the incredible production, we got a glimpse into the orchestra pit and a special treat: several cast members greeted us and answered a miriade of questions. 🌟 We’re proud to introduce… Emily Stormer ~ Music Director for not just HS Musical Jr. but also Oceans of Fun! 🌟

Emily recently graduated with Honors from Lewis & Clark College with a BA in Music Composition. A talented musician, composer, singer, and performer, Emily has a strong background in both theatre and music, with roles in productions like Rent, Parade, and Les Misérables. 🎭🎶

They’ve also worked as a music director, composer, piano instructor, and ensemble performer, bringing a wide range of experience and passion to their work.
Emily is excited to share their love of music and theatre with students and inspire the next generation of performers! 💫

🌟 We’re proud to introduce… Megan Tudor! 🌟

Megan holds a BFA in Theatre Performance (Musical Theatre) from Central Washington University and has performed with Orchesis Dance Company and Ballet Northwest.

A valued member of the Spotlight team, she returns for her fourth summer as a Conservatory Dance Instructor and choreographer, with credits including Beetlejuice Jr., Mean Girls Jr., Cinderella, Chicago, and more! 🎭✨

When she’s not teaching, Megan enjoys time with her partner, her cats, and all things creative.
