You can do this outside on a fence or concrete with chalk OR if your weather is less than ideal, inside on a piece of paper, canvas or cardboard with paint, pastels, WHATEVER you have! We use and love Kwik Stix!

Now's the time to learn or BRUSH UP on art basics for adults and kids - for free! Thanks to my friend The Artful Lynk for sharing!

In light of all that is happening in the world around us, I want to invite anyone and everyone to join me in a free online 6 week beginners art course!

We will be exploring Color Theory, Study some of the Masters, links to my personal worksheets and quizzes, and get connected in a group where you can watch the videos, go at your own pace, as well as have the opportunity to share and interact with others as we all work through lesson based assignments and more!!!

I will be putting together a closed Facebook group, where the videos, assignments, and worksheets will be posted. I’d recommend this class for 7 and older, though anyone is encouraged to take part. I will have some specialized optional assignments for those more experienced artists that wish to brush up on the basics and have a little challenge. I have worked this out to be very low cost to no cost- depending on what supplies you have at home.

The next few weeks are going to be a challenge. It's going to be hard on kids being away from school. It's going to be a challenge and huge change for working parents, and even the caregivers home with these little ones during the day - unsure what's safe to participate in during the break.

We have a heart for our community, our kids, and our families. We want to help! Here's what we're going to do:

Beginning next week, our studio will be going live daily with free art & craft tutorials to create at home with your kids! We'll have shopping lists (with links to the supplies you can order from Amazon) to have on-hand to complete the projects with us! We hope this helps the parents, grandparents, nannies, and in home providers to still have something fun to do with these little guys, and something exciting to look forward to during a time that can be quite overwhelming for kids. Art is therapy, friends! And if there was ever a time for it, it's now!

We like to create in the kitchen over here, too.

Today's special breakfast was a heart healthy version of banana muffins with an unhealthy dose of chocolate chips. It's all about balance - in art and food. 😆

Some of my favorite kid creations are ones like this - where my 4-year-old asks for her markers, paper and tape, and uses those, along with the yarn and plastic needle leftover from a sewing project, to make a sculpture. 😊

What's this all about? Sunshine and wearing this work of art, as well as the little masterpiece inside.

We got the best package from my college roommate Dr. Anna Suzanne this week FILLED with all sorts of handmade tie-dyed goodies for the fam, including this beaut of a MOBY Wrap! Look at those one-of-a-kind designs! And, I have no idea if she realized this, but I am a huge fan of those aquas and greens, as my living rooms from my mid-20s on attest. 😂 I love that it matches my house decor!

Bold colors, shapes, dots, lines, numbers and emoji! I can't wait for my kids to explore artist Todd Gray Studios' exhibit at The Butler Institute of American Art. The show runs through March 3 and is like a bunch of bright 3D paintings built into sculptures.

If you've never taken your kids to an art museum, this is the perfect place to start! My 4- and near 2-year-olds will LOVE searching for specific shapes, patterns, numbers and comic characters, while my 1-month-old will be in awe of the black-and-white blocks!

And, as always, admission to The Butler is amazingly FREE!
