The portrait is finally complete.
It began as a feeling, became a sketch and slowly developed through a series of creative decisions into the finished story you see now.

Some details changed, parts of the portrait began developing differently than I originally imagined. 🎨

It isn’t quite finished but emotion is starting to show more.

orking in this portrait has reminded me that not everything meaningful is understood immediately.

We sometimes experience an emotion long before can explain it.

Art can give those emotions a place to exist while we are trying to understand them.

Progress doesn’t always arrive through one dramatic breakthrough.

Sometimes it’s one adjusted line, one decision that feels right or that moment you start trusting the vision before you see the end result.

This portrait is reminding me to be patient with the process which is a lesson that applies to more than just art.🤎

Creating a portrait is rarely a straight path from the first sketch to the finished piece.

As I work, I often find myself asking

“Does this only look right—or does it feel right?”

Which helps me move pass drawing a face and begin creating an emotional story..
