When I consider your heavens, the work of your fingers, the moon and the stars, which you have set in place, what is mankind that you are mindful of them, human beings that you care for them? You have made them a little lower than the angels and crowned them with glory and honor. You made them rulers over the works of your hands; you put everything under their feet: all flocks and herds, and the animals of the wild, the birds in the sky, and the fish in the sea, all that swim the paths of the seas. Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! Before the birth of Jesus, Mary and Joseph searched for a place to stay. There was no available room, only a stable. A stable is not an ideal place for the birth of a child. Though Mary and Joseph trusted God completely, certainly this was not the birth they had envisioned for the son of God.

Sometimes I picture the stable as a crowded place; cluttered with animals and hay, and all sorts of extras just stored away. Similarly, our hearts often become cluttered with the cares of daily life, hardly enough room for the King of Kings.

At other times I picture the stable as a meager and secluded place of solitude. Likewise, hardships can cause our hearts to become arid in isolation lacking the warmth our savior deserves.

The stable wasn’t prepared for Jesus. Truthfully, it could never be suitable prepared. Neither can our hearts.

Offer Jesus your heart, trusting that he doesn’t mind the condition it’s in.

Jesus replied, "Foxes have dens and birds have nests, but the Son of Man has no place to lay his head.”- Luke 9:58.

Welcome Jesus into your heart and let his presence rest there.
