Many thanks to Stacey for sharing this Gaslight Village brochure copy from the tribute wall found in Queensbury at the outlet mall. All photos from the Gaslight Village tribute section of the wall were previously posted on May 27th. They included Mike's Submarines and even the Montcalm restaurant ad. We have also included them here for our friends to enjoy.

She writes: "Look what I found in Queensbury! Long before there was The Great Escape, there was Gaslight Village! It was a smaller version and we loved going there! I was so excited to see this reminder of time spent in Lake George, I almost started to sing the theme: “Gaslight Village, yesterday’s fun today! Vo-de-o-dee, vo-de-o-doe, doe, doe!! “

Many thanks to Mitch for sharing this family vacation video of Gaslight Village from 1988. This video shows a lot of the entertainment the park had to offer. From the rides, arcade, outdoor stage shows, Cavalcade of Cars and a short clip of the Keystone Cop in the center of the village for the pie fight. Such precious memories we will always cherish.

Gaslight Village had entertainment for all ages. Here we see the horse and cart kiddie ride for the youngsters and the Yo-Yo swings in the background for the adults. The Yo-Yo was renamed Flying Trapeze and also used at Storytown/Great Escape. Yo-Yo and kiddie ride picture courtesy of Steven. Flying Trapeze courtesy of James.

Many thanks to Charles R. Wood Theater for sharing this beautiful mural of Mr. Wood. Without Mr. Wood, none of this would be possible. We are forever grateful for the quality family entertainment that we had over the years at Storytown and Gaslight Village. Have a wonderful week everyone!

"Introducing: MURAL MONDAY! 🎨

Arts District of Glens Falls is currently working on building a website to go along with our new alley mural that names and describes each section/piece of Glens Falls History - but for now, and even after that! - tune into our socials to learn more about it!

First up, our namesake! The incomparable Charles R. Wood.

Mr. Wood was a business owner and philanthropist who’s legacy lives on through memories of time spent at Storytown USA, Gaslight Village or the Great Escape. And, today, through all things made possible by his charitable giving both during his lifetime and posthumously through the Charles R. Wood Foundation.

The Charles R. Wood Theater, Charles R. Wood Park and C. R. Wood Cancer Center are a few of his most known namesakes. But, did you know Charles Wood was also the co-founder of Double H Ranch alongside actor Paul Newman?

In his honor, his foundation seeks to ‘continue to fuel Charley’s legacy of hope, compassion and healthy, wholesome fun’ through grants to countless local organizations. To date, these grants total over $25 million in gifts.

We are grateful to Charles R. Wood every day that we open our doors and are able to share the arts with our community!

Stay tuned each Monday to learn more about this incredible artwork and the incredible history of Glens Falls! ⭐️
