Gaslight Village Tribute Page "Yesterday's Fun Today". Continuous entertainment, rain or shine. Lake George, N.Y. Memory Lane featuring antiques and mannequins in a diorama setting to enjoy.

Formerly located in the heart of Lake George Village, Gaslight Village was the most entertaining amusement park in the Adirondack region. Opened in 1959, it's Gay 90's style theme featured entertainment for everyone rain or shine. From the Opera House with ice skaters and various acts, meller dramas, outdoor stage entertainment, a ride section, penny arcade, silent movies, and shooting gallery. Th

e Cavalcade Of Cars was an all-time favorite featuring Chitty Chitty Bang Bang and the Bob Hope Car just to name a few. Gaslight Village closed in 1989 and was renamed Ride and Fun Park for a short time before once again being renamed Action Park. Action Park closed it's doors a short time later and the property now is the home of the Charles R. Wood Park.

One of the main reasons for Mr. Woods's success with Storytown was that he had something for everyone. The nursery rhymes were for moms to bring the kids and the Ghost Town to entertain dads. There was something for visitors of all ages to enjoy. One big part of Storytown was the addition of Jungleland in 1960. Who could forget the gorilla on the entrance? If you made it passed him, the rest was a "walk through the jungle." Many thanks to Adirondack Atlas for this clip of Jungleland.

Now for something completely different. A weekend "Storytown splash." Most of us who grew up in that era went to Storytown by day and Gaslight Village by evening. Let's take a trip back in time to the park where it all began, Storytown U.S.A. Many thanks to Adirondack Atlas for this short clip.
