LGDT mourns the lost of Mickey Luce with the rest of our theatrical community. Mickey Luce was an integral part of the formative years for so many LGDT artists, technicians and volunteers. He provided an artistic outlet for generations of theatre artists in our region. Lake George Youtheatre and Mickey Luce's legacy are woven into the fabric of who we are. Thank you, Mickey. Our world is a better place for having you in it and your legacy lives on in the lives you've touched.

It is with an incredibly heavy heart that I share the passing of my dad, Mickey Luce, the founder of LG YOUTHEATRE.

In 1978, my dad had a vision of creating a place where young people could discover the joy of theatre while building confidence, friendships, and a sense of belonging. What began as a dream grew into something far greater than he ever could have imagined.

For nearly 50 years, generations of young people found a home at YOUTHEATRE. Some discovered a love of performing. Others found lifelong friends. Many found confidence they didn't know they had. My dad believed in kids. He challenged them, encouraged them, celebrated them, and gave them opportunities to grow both on and off the stage.

His impact can never be measured by the number of productions he directed or the audiences he entertained. His true legacy is found in the thousands of lives he touched. Former cast members, crew members, musicians, volunteers, and families carry a piece of YOUTHEATRE with them because of him.

If you were ever part of this program, then you were part of something he loved deeply. Thank you for helping him build a community that has continued to grow for almost five decades.

As we mourn this tremendous loss, we also celebrate a life that gave so much to so many. I know there are countless stories, memories, and photos that capture who my dad was. If you have one to share, I hope you'll post it in the comments. It would mean so much to our family and to this entire YOUTHEATRE community.

Thank you, Dad, for believing in young people and for creating a place where generations of kids could discover not only a love of theatre, but confidence, friendship, and a sense of belonging. Your legacy lives on...
