The summer of 2018, two kind and brilliant humans changed my life. My phone rang and on the other end I heard, "Let's do a show together this summer! Let's do Spring Awakening!" I had no theatre, no space and no budget. The next day, we headed to a space above The Curry Hut in Highwood. When we got to the top of the stairs, we walked into a room with a hardwood floor, windows, and a few lights. In the center of the room were 4 wooden chairs. We exchanged looks with no words. And in that moment, I knew we would be doing Spring Awakening with 4 chairs. Imagine the overwhelming emotion I felt tonight seeing Kaitlin Feely and Jordan Radis walk into Theater Wit to see 4 Chairs Theatre's production of Good People. They are the spark and inspiration behind 4 Chairs Theatre. And now they are both professional and successful actors taking the world by storm. Their immense talent is only surpassed by their gigantic hearts. Kaitlin and Jordan, thank you for planting the seed that helped 4 Chairs Theatre grow and flourish. Thank you for believing in me. And thank you for shining a light on all that is good in this world. Oh, and please remember this--no matter how far away you may travel, there will always be a chair waiting for you to sit in. ❤️❤️.

Thank you to Paul Michael Lisnek for the honor of being on Curtain Call Chicago!
"This production of David Lindsay-Abaire’s Good People from 4 Chairs Theatre at Theater Wit proves that a familiar script can still feel alive when the ensemble and director trust the complexity of our humanity, or lack of it. Relying on a sharp blend of South Boston grit and moral ambiguity, this company delivers a performance that is at times bitterly funny, at moments unexpectedly tender, and, in its best moments, intentionally challenging to our moral sensitivities.
As a whole, 4 Chairs Theatre’s Good People is a tightly directed, actor-driven production that trusts its sophisticated Chicago audience to sit with discomfort of having to deal with the work’s haunting question: if being “good” is partly a matter of circumstance, what happens to the people whose circumstances never cut them a break? Overall, this is a smart revival that will have you thinking and discussing long after you leave Theater Wit’s Stage One." --Paul Michael Lisnek

I am overwhelmed with gratitude to Kerry Reid for your Chicago Reader Recommended Review of Good People. You have captured why this play has taken up residency in my mind and heart since 2012.
"Lindsay-Abaire’s story offers keen insights into how a lifetime on an economic and emotional knife-edge leaves soul-deep scars."
"Good People came out of the economic collapse of 2008. Sadly, the circumstances for women like Margie haven’t gotten any better in 2026...."
"...reminds us of how fragile and disposable the American dream really is, no matter how good a person may be."

An abundance of gratitude to Emily Werner for your thoughtfully layered, deeply perceptive, and emotionally resonant review of GOOD PEOPLE.

"4 Chairs Theatre presents its production of GOOD PEOPLE at Theatre Wit in the Greater Lakeview neighborhood. Premiering on Broadway on March 3, 2011, David Lindsay-Abaire’s play went on to win the the Tony Award for Best Leading Actress in a Play and the New York Drama Critics’ Circle Award for Best Play of the 2010-2011 Season. Fifteen years later, the play still hits hard with its audience in its presentations of socioeconomic disparity, class divide, unemployment and what it means to be a “good person” in your community... Artistic Director Lauren Berman directs Good People with passion and a strong focus on
