"After the Last Supper" is now open at VA Tech's Armory Gallery.
The gallery is located at 203 Draper Rd. downtown Blacksburg.
The show includes drawings, sculptures, videos, a life sized (22 ft. long) version of da Vinci's Last Supper, and writing on the wall.
It is best described as a 3 year journey – a wandering in, around, through and beyond an idea. I made the last piece for the show just last week and carved some words from a J.R.R. Tolkien poem into the sculpture "Not all who wander are lost".

The show runs from August 5 - September 21.
Visitors are welcome M-F 12 - 5pm and the gallery will be open on Saturdays after students return on Aug. 26 - with hours to be determined.

You're all invited to join me in the gallery for a special evening of viewing the show on Fri. Aug. 9 from 5-7pm.
Parking is free at downtown meters after 5 and the parking lot next to the Armory will also be open and free – its entrance is not on Draper Rd. but on Otay St. around the block from the gallery - the location for the parking lot entrance is: https://goo.gl/maps/Xvkz9X5igJbVFyqT6
An "official" reception is also scheduled for Thur. Sept. 12, 5-7pm

Meanwhile "Out There" – the studio and sculpture trail remains open by appointment for visitors.
Individuals, families, large groups are all welcome - just get in touch by phone, email, text….! www.charliebrouwer.com

Staining ladders in preparation for my “After the Last Supper” exhibition that starts on Aug. 2 at the Armory Gallery- VA Tech.

04/24/2019

This Fall, as part of my “After the Last Supper” exhibition, the mezzanine of the Armory Gallery at VA Tech will be darkened and in it there will be will be a 24 foot long version of daVinci’s “Last Supper” made of my white ladders.
Projected on the scene will be a continuous stream of people walking toward each other and embracing as they come together.
The video for this installation will be made on Thur. May 23 at 6pm - 7pm. We’re hoping for a wide variety of people (all ages etc.) to participate in creating it for about at the Armory Gallery, 203 Draper Rd. downtown Blacksburg.
Please consider joining us – come alone (we’ll find you someone to hug!) or in pairs, families, or groups.
--- Just me know by message or email if you are willing and able to be there or have any questions.
Free pizza will be served when the video is completed!
