For over a year now Jan and I have been discussing our paths forward as artists in our 70’s. We have decided that it would be best for us to scale back a bit and as a result our Chenoweth . Halligan Studios and Front Gallery at 221 Rodgers Avenue here in Lake City, SC. will be put on the real estate market. We are hopeful of finding another artist(s) who could purchase the property and make the stuido/gallery their own. Attached are photos of our building and grounds.
Jan and I have already set up small studios in our home and will continue to work as artists but in a more modest capacity. Our building sits on a half-acre lot just a short walk from Acline Studios , TRAX Gallery and the Artfields offices, all in the downtown Lake City area. The building houses two large studios, a break room, one full and one half baths, a large gallery and two additional rooms. ( See attached photos)
For those of you who are not familiar with Lake City it is a small town south of Florence, north of Charleston and west of Myrtle Beach. Located in the P*e Dee region of South Carolina, it has a strong agricultural history but over the past decade has become an arts destination. Artfields, a 10 day juried exhibition of around 400 southern artists fills the town and its state-of-the-art galleries, industrial spaces and quaint businesses with contemporary southern art. It also houses a quaint business district, a gorgeous hotel and a number of artist's studios including the new Acline Studios and gallery. Art exhibitions, workshops and other cultural events continue throughout the year. Moore Farms Botanical Garden in close by as well as the Florence County Museum, the Steven F. Gately Gallery and the Performing Arts Center are all in the nearby City of Florence’s cultural district. There are many parks, swamps and scenic rivers that are close as well and the close proximity to the beach make this area a highly desirable place to live and work.
