At Legacy, becoming a Senior Assistant is about more than helping in a classroom. It’s an earned position and an intentional step toward leadership.
Senior Assistants have spent years assisting, learning, receiving feedback, and demonstrating that they’re ready for greater responsibility. As the highest level of our Class Assistant Program, they begin learning what it really means to teach.
They are given opportunities to:
• Lead approved activities and portions of class
• Give instructions and demonstrations
• Work with individual students and small groups
• Reinforce corrections appropriately
• Help manage transitions and classroom flow
• Adapt their communication to different ages and personalities
• Develop classroom management skills
• Step in to lead when needed
• Model Legacy’s expectations and culture
And the training doesn’t stop when class ends.
Senior Assistants commit to monthly training meetings, continued education, feedback, goal setting, and one-on-one development so they can continue growing into confident, capable leaders.
The goal? Not simply to create great assistants, but to give students a pathway toward becoming great teachers, mentors, and leaders themselves.
