Empire of the Seed is an umbrella organization that includes preservation of older buildings for adaptive reuse, such as the Lake Charles Calcasieu Marine National Bank (originally opened in 1928) and the nearby Cash & Carry building (circa 1936). These two buildings act as the host for creative individuals, functions and projects for the preservation and creation of cultural events and recurring

businesses, such as a farmer’s market, production and sale of new products, food catering enterprises, and public service development for Lake Charles’ downtown and lakefront. The Calcasieu Marine National Bank and the Phoenix Building, our newest property, are currently available for commercial lease as well. Within this umbrella organization are also consulting projects involving energy and business development in both Southwest Louisiana and the nation at large. Empire of the Seed believes that a diversity of ideas leads to a diversity of activities and cultural enrichment that enhances our community. We’re celebrating Donna and Rick Richard for their passion in preserving Lake Charles’ historic treasures. Rick — a partner in our agency — and Donna are recipients of the Winnie Byrd Preservationist Extraordinaire Award from the Louisiana Trust for Historic Preservation.
The award honors people, organizations and businesses for preserving historic places and fostering community pride. Donna and Rick (seen here at a past Lake Charles High School reunion; they’re proud Wildcats) have done both, all over town … from the preservation and adaptive reuse of the old Calcasieu Marine National Bank and Cash & Carry warehouse to efforts that foster the legacy and business potential of downtown Lake Charles.

Empire of The Seed, LLC's Chadwater, Lake Charles City Hall, MorganField, and the Children's Museum of SWLA are so proud to announce the Inaugural Chad Thielen Memorial Golf Tournament. This tournament will take place on Saturday, May 4 and Sunday, May 5 at Mallard Golf Club.

This tournament will honor the life and legacy of Chad Thielen and benefit the Children’s Museum as they begin their next chapter inside their new home at Port Wonder-a shining beacon on the lake front that is sure to spur the development of his beloved Southwest Louisiana.
