Finch (2021) starring Tom Hanks (Forrest Gump, Toy Story) and Caleb Landry Jones (Banshee from X-Men: First Class) - a very touching and humorous look at a genius survivor of an Earth-wide cataclysmic event. Solar flares have eaten the ozone layer, making the subsequent temperatures and UV radiation deadly to be out in the open without a protective suit. The movie chronicles the journey from St. Louis to San Francisco during this post-apocalyptic story where Finch is accompanied by his two robots and dog. The second robot he built, “Jeff” (voiced by Jones), has a responsive AI that is on a journey to learn what it means to be human. He built Jeff to take care of the dog after he has passed, but the two become friends and companions as Jeff evolves. The movie feels like a combination of Wall-E, Silent Running, I Am Legend, and Cast Away (also starring Hanks). The movie is rated PG-13 for some intense moments, light profanity, and a look at the mortality of the human condition. It is located exclusively on the Apple TV+ app. I give it 3.75 😊 out of a possible 5 😊
