If you are an aspiring artist who keeps watching paint-along videos but still feels like you haven’t made a single painting you can truly call your own…

While everyone else is copying their favorite artist’s style video after video… I’m helping women just like you make original art in their own style — every single time.

Hi, I’m Cindy Bale Tanner — watercolor artist, artist coach, and yes… I’m turning 71 this week! 🎉

And I have a little birthday secret for you.

Here’s the thing. You’ve bought the supplies. You’ve watched the videos. You’ve painted along. But when someone asks, “Did you paint that?” … something inside you hesitates. Because deep down, you know it’s not really yours.

That feeling? I built something specifically to fix it.

It’s called the Artist Journey Community. And for four days only — to celebrate my 71st birthday — you can join for just $22 a month.

Inside, I teach you the exact art school tools that let YOU make every single decision about your own art. You find your style. You make paintings you can show, sell, frame, and compete with — and proudly sign your name to.

We meet four times a month on Zoom — Saturdays and Mondays — to co-create, ask questions, and cheer each other on. And built right into your membership is my signature course, “Create Your Own Original Art” — which normally sells for $797 — included.

This is not another paint-along membership where you copy someone else. This is YOUR art. YOUR style. YOUR name on it.

The birthday sale ends soon. Click the link below (or in my profile) and come join us! 🎨

Check out the new show at OC Art House in The Shops At Mission Viejo!

My watercolors are included!

When I have a tiny bit of something going on, I make myself a cup of tea, using my tea Llama and a Greek Mountain tea.

This was a present from Anne one of the members of the Artist Journey Community.

When we met in Amsterdam, Rand was getting a cold so she very nicely went out and bought. It’s Greek Mountain tea and it’s a wonderful stuff when you’ve got a cold coming on.

If you’ve got a stack of paint-along paintings you can’t sign, can’t sell, can’t enter in a show… it’s not you. Nobody ever taught you to make YOUR own original art.

Hi! I’m Cindy Bale Tanner — watercolor artist, artist coach, and this week, a brand new 71-year-old! 🎉

To celebrate, I’m opening the doors to the Artist Journey Community at a birthday price — through the end of August only.

🎨 What it is: A warm group of aspiring artists who meet 4x a month to make original art in their own style — not paint-alongs, real original work that’s yours to sign, show, and sell.

🎁 What’s included:
→ My signature course, “Create Your Own Original Art” (a $797 value), built right into your membership
→ Free VIP All Access to BOTH my 2023 and 2024 “Paint Your Way To…” artist interview series — my birthday gift to you

💰 The offer:
$22/month, or go annual for $220/year — that’s 2 months FREE.

I’m turning 71 and acting a bit crazy.

I’ve been painting for 8 years now.

And I’ll be honest. For a long time, I was pretty good at painting other people’s art. I could follow along. I could match a style. I could produce something that looked impressive. Until someone asked, “So what’s YOUR style?”

I didn’t have one.

That question used to make me want to hide. I’d crawl under the nearest drop cloth and disappear.

The problem with paint-along videos is simple. They’re great for learning technique. But they’re terrible for learning yourself. You get better at copying. You get worse at creating. You end up with a bottom drawer full of other people’s ideas. And a weird hollow feeling you can’t quite name.

It took me years to figure something out. Finding your own style isn’t some mystical thing. It’s not just for the talented ones. It’s a skill. You can learn it. You can practice it. And once you have it, nobody can take it from you.

I’ve watched women go from “I don’t know what my art even is.” To selling original work they’re genuinely proud of. Not copies. Theirs.

Here’s the crazy part.

I’m turning 71 years old. And instead of getting brunch and a balloon card, I did something ridiculous.

For the next 71 hours, you can join my Artist Journey Community for $180 for the full year. That includes four live group coaching sessions with me every month. Plus my signature course on creating original art and building your art business. And two bonus VIP passes to my “Paint Your Way To…” artist interview series. These are interviews with artists who show you their real lives as artists and sometimes their studios.

It’s a lot. It’s genuinely too much for what I’m charging. That’s the point.

If you’ve been waiting to stop copying other people’s art, this is it. Start making your own.

Come find your style before the 71 hours runs out.

Big announcement coming Tuesday!

I painted my first abstract with a plastic spoon — and it taught me more about finding my style than two years of paint-along videos ever did.

Hi, I’m Cindy Bale Tanner, and I help a woman break free from paint-along videos and create original art in her own style. If you want more content like this, make sure you hit that follow button.

Here’s what happened:

No brushes. No reference photo. No instructor hovering over my shoulder.

Just me, a spoon, and a blank sheet of watercolor paper.

And something wild happened: I finished it. The whole thing. And it looked like me.

Not like a YouTube tutorial. Not like the instructor’s painting with my name signed at the bottom.

Mine.

Here’s what I’ve noticed after years of teaching watercolor:

Most people who struggle aren’t lacking talent. They’ve just been trained to follow, not to lead.

Paint-along videos feel productive: you’re holding a brush, you’re mixing colors, you feel like you’re learning.

But the instructor picked the colors. The instructor chose the brushstrokes. The instructor decided when the painting was done.

You just copied.

And copied work never feels like yours. That’s why it ends up face-down in a drawer.

If you want five fresh approaches to create original art that’s 100% yours: no brushes, no reference photos, no copying, grab my course ‘Your 1st 5 Abstract Watercolor Paintings’ using the link below or in my bio.

Make every choice yourself. Your colors. Your marks. Your painting.

And then sign it.

One student’s husband looked at her finished work and said, “Isn’t it about time to admit you’re a real artist?”

That moment is closer for you than you think.

That’s how you stop copying and start finding your style.

Have you ever wondered what it would feel like to look at your own art and see YOUR style staring back at you instead of someone else’s?

Yeah. I was there, too.

By the way, I’m Cindy Bale Tanner. I help a woman break free from paint-along videos to create original art in her own style. Hit follow if you want more like this.

Right now, you’re copying someone else’s brushstrokes. Matching their colors. And when you’re done (if you even finish), it’s not yours. You can’t sell it. If you show it, you can only give it away.

But here’s what I know. Your style isn’t missing. It’s just buried under all those paint-along videos.

The moment you stop copying and start choosing your colors and your brushstrokes, your style will be right there. Waiting.

And the day you line up three of your paintings and see the thread running through them, the style that’s unmistakably yours, that’s the day you’ll finally feel like an artist.

You’re not becoming an artist. You already are one. You just have to stop copying long enough to see it.

Save this for when you’re ready to stop copying and start creating. And follow me for more content like this.

5 words that get beginner watercolor artists afraid of criticism to share their work even if they think it’s not good enough yet.

Hi! I’m Cindy Bale Tanner. I help a woman with a lifelong artist dream create original art in her own style and put it out in the world. Hit follow so you don’t miss more of these.

Okay, here are the 5 words:

Never criticize your art online.

That’s it.

Here’s why this works.

When you post your painting and immediately apologize for it with: “This isn’t my best work”; “I’m still learning”; “I know the sky is wonky”, you’re teaching people how to look for what’s wrong.

But here’s the truth: your art doesn’t need a disclaimer. It needs to be seen. And when you criticize it, you’re robbing yourself of the one thing you need most: the confidence to keep going.

So here’s what you do instead.

You post it. No apology. No disclaimer. No ‘I know it’s not perfect but…’ Just the painting. And if you want to say something, say what you learned, what you tried, or what you’re exploring next. That’s it.

And here’s the result.

You stop training yourself to tear down your own work. You start seeing your art the way other people see it: as something brave, something personal, and something worth sharing. The more you do this, the easier it gets.

Remember to save this so you can come back to it next time you’re about to post.

If you’ve been hiding your work because you think it’s not good enough yet, this is your permission. Post it. Don’t apologize. Let it stand on its own.

Hit follow for more ways to break free from paint-along culture and make original art that’s truly yours.
