Opera Industry “rules” we’re ignoring!

We at Opera Laguna love this art form and the artist’s who bring it to life, so we like doing things a little different here. Art at the expense of the artists is not something we’re interested in.

What other “rules” do you think we should ignore? ⬇️

Reminiscing about our 2026 Fundraiser & Gala because we surpassed our goal! 📈

We started the afternoon with the quintessential tenor favorite, “’O Sole Mio,” sung by Matthew White and Arnold Livingston Geis , before jumping into more modern repertoire with Kayleigh Decker ‘s performance of Charles Trenet’s “Boum!”

Then came Carmen. 🔥 Fresh off an acclaimed run in Carmen with San Diego Opera, Guadalupe Paz Mezzosoprano Opera Singer brought the fiery diva back to life on the steps of Judith Gorski’s lawn—first in the Carmen Quintet alongside Kayleigh, ORIANA GEIS-FALLA , Arnold, and Reithy , and then in the gripping Final Duet with Matt.
Arnold & Oriana brought us Donizetti to lighten the mood before Matt delivered a stellar rendition of “E lucevan le stelle.” A gorgeous female-trio arrangement of “Song to the Moon” kept the audience rapt, before the full company came together for “Make Our Garden Grow,” set against the beginning of an exquisite sunset. All sung with a quartet of fabulous musicians under the baton of Brian Holman .

World-class singers, the real operatic classics and summer evening we won’t soon forget. 🌅🎶
