Meet Ricardo Garcia, our Von Asterberg in The Student Prince.
Praised for his “rich, expressive tenor,” Ricardo brings a bright, open-hearted sound and the kind of charm Heidelberg was basically built for.
In Europe, Ricardo spent two seasons in the Ensemble of Staatstheater Darmstadt, singing everything from Alfredo in La traviata and Lenski in Eugene Onegin to Cassio in Otello, Oronte in Alcina, Andres in Wozzeck, and the Shepherd in Tristan und Isolde.
Back in the U.S., he is a former member of the Houston Grand Opera Butler Studio and has appeared with Portland Opera, Santa Fe Opera, Wolf Trap Opera, Boston Lyric Opera, Florida Grand Opera, and Central City Opera.

Meet Allegra De Vita, playing Kathie’s Friend in The Student Prince.
Hailed for her “opulent, cleanly delivered mezzo,” Allegra brings serious vocal glamour to Heidelberg.
A graduate of Washington National Opera’s Cafritz Young Artist Program, the Academy of Vocal Arts, and Rice University, Allegra has performed with companies across the country, including Washington National Opera, Opera Philadelphia, Tulsa Opera, Dayton Opera, Glimmerglass, Maryland Lyric Opera, and The Spoleto Festival.
She has sung everything from Carmen to Cherubino, Isabella to Maddalena, and even performed Italian folk song as part of Miu Miu’s Tales & Tellers during NYC Frieze Week.

Meet Alex McKissick, our Detlef in The Student Prince.
Praised by Opera News for his “melting tone and poignant phrasing,” Alex brings a golden, expressive tenor and serious leading man presence to the Laguna Playhouse.
His career has taken him from Washington National Opera’s Domingo-Cafritz Young Artist Program to Irish National Opera, San Diego Opera, Opera Theatre of Saint Louis, Aspen Music Festival, and the Metropolitan Opera roster.
Critics have called him “a most impressive singer,” with “tenderest sounds” and “eloquent phrasing,” which is exactly the kind of voice we want filling the Playhouse on July 3.
