Congratulations to NYCD!!! It’s stunning!
On Saturday, April 25, one year from the beginning, we completed the work on our America's Tapestry New York State Panel! Pictured here is Jenni Paperman, project director, with the completed panel along side the poster. There were 57 people who contributed their skills; stitching, embroidery, painting, and applique. The majority are members of the NY Capital District Embroiderers' Guild but also a few community members and others from the other 12 state panels. With 1,147 hours of work to completion we're ready for the next phase where the panel will be mounted and readied for its first exhibition at the Muscarelle Museum of Art in Virginia, opening in June 2026. Thanks especially to all who contributed and to the General Peter Gansevoort Chapter,NSDAR and the Van Schaick Mansion for hosting us over the past year. And of course a very special thank you to Stephan Romero, project director and visionary founder of America's Tapestry who, with his ideas and creativity we were able to bring this project to life.
