Get to know DJ Sunn…

DJ Sunn has always loved music. Raised on the southside of Chicago Don received a very early introduction to the world of Motown, R&B, Funk and Soul.

A child of the 80's, he also had vast exposure to everything that made that decade great, from Aerosmith to ZZ Top. He first learned his way around the decks at age 12. An older cousin taught him how to beat- match and play Chicago House music.

As Sunn grew older and Hip-Hop became more popular, that became his love. Throughout High School and into college, Sunn performed with several groups and even managed to record multiple projects. Throughout his time performing he never lost the love of standing behind the tables though. Don majored in radio broadcasting and was an On Air announcer for Urban, News Talk, Oldies, and Classic Rock radio stations. It is that background and experience that has formed Sunn's DJ Philosophy. When asked what type of music he plays, his response is always the same, "I am a DJ, I play whatever makes the crowd have a good time...no matter the crowd".

Get to know DJ Powder...

Born a farmer in northern Indiana, Nick spun his way into the DJ life to become known as DJ Powder.

Powder started as a break dancer in 1995 with the notorious Rat Pak B-boy Crew. Breaking taught Powder how to follow a beat providing a path to DJing. In 2001, Powder was in Vincennes, IN going to school and getting serious about DJing - learning how to match a beat and simple scratches. In a dorm room practicing, his confidence built up enough to branch out to perform at house parties.

In 2008, Powder was nominated by the community as one of the top DJs in Tippecanoe County. In 2011, Powder was recognized as the top DJ in the Greater Lafayette Area by the Journal & Courier. In 2012, and 2023 Rat Pak was recognized as the small business of the month by the Greater Lafayette Chamber. And for the last 2 years Rat Pak has been recognized in the annual “Best of the Wabash” promotion.

DJ Powder has been in the club/music scene for more than 13 years, expanding boundaries and reaching new extremes. DJ Powder also performs at weddings, corporate events, school dances and private parties..

The construction of an empire continues here at Rat Pak Mobile. Competing with some of the top DJ's and the quick changing market, DJ Powder gets behind two turntables and turns the volume up to rock a crowd every weekend.
