After celebrating 40 years of Downtown Alive! with Wayne Toups, come on over to The Grouse Room tonight for soulful blues and folk from Grammy-nominee Andrew Duhon with special guest Roddie Romero 🎤
New Orleans native Andrew Duhon wrote his latest album Emerald Blue from the inspiration he sought and received from travels to the Pacific Northwest. A keen eye for details and the songwriting chops to write what others see but can’t say, he’s a songwriter, a historian of today, in the truest form. His ability to absorb, process, and apply personal experiences to the ever elusive universal is a defining element of his career so much so that No Depression called him “a soulmate of Van Morrison, lyrically and vocally.” Emerald Blue is Duhon’s fourth studio album with GRAMMY nominated producer, Trina Shoemaker. Duhon’s previous albums (Songs I Wrote Before I Knew You, The Moorings, False River) were critically acclaimed by Rolling Stone who pointed out his “soulful croon” and Uproxx declared his voice one that “you could spend the whole day lost in.” His second album, The Moorings was nominated for a GRAMMY for best engineered album in 2013.
The Crescent City Connection Series is back at The Grouse Room this Saturday with Honey Island Swamp Band! From the pristine waters of the Honey Island Swamp, to the vibrant streets of New Orleans, to the hazy corner of Haight-Asbury in San Francisco, this band has endured devastation, relocation and revitalization.
Honey Island Swamp Band formed in San Francisco, CA via New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina displaced the founding members. With little hope of returning to their beloved city, the band channeled the blues and emotions of their circumstances to develop a soulful style and sound that critics have compared to legendary Blues-Roots-Rock Artists such as The Allman Brothers, Little Feat and The Band.

GRAMMY-nominee Andrew Duhon is set to take the stage at The Grouse Room tomorrow night, showcasing his undeniable talent as a singer-songwriter. Duhon's latest album, Emerald Blue, is a testament to his creative spirit and ability to find inspiration in unexpected places. Having temporarily left his longtime home of New Orleans in 2019, Duhon found himself drawn to the Pacific Northwest and its vibrant colors, particularly the shade he describes as "emerald blue." This new perspective is reflected in the album, which features eleven thoughtfully crafted songs that examine the familiar in the context of the unfamiliar. Duhon worked with a talented team of musicians and collaborators to bring Emerald Blue to life, recording the album at Louisiana's Dockside Studios with the help of GRAMMY-award winning engineer Trina Shoemaker.
Special guest Roddie Romero opens the show - tickets/tables are selling fast! Secure your tickets here: https://bit.ly/3EQ2IlM

TONIGHT 🪗 Terry & The Zydeco Bad Boys bring their traditional zydeco sound to The Grouse Room! Terry Domingue grew up in in the heart of French Louisiana. Coming of age in this hotbed of Cajun and Creole culture, he developed a passion for zydeco which he first heard at Creole Cowboy trail rides he attended with his father. At these community gatherings, four-year-old Terry would stand at the foot of the stage, enthralled by the accordion. After teaching himself to play, Terry got his first accordion at the age of eight.
In 2001, he formed his own band, Terry & the Zydeco Bad Boys, carrying deeply traditional zydeco into the 21st century, holding true to the genre’s roots though traditional instrumentation, two-step and waltz rhythms, and French lyrics highlighting the trials and joys of life in Creole Louisiana.
The band has become a favorite of zydeco fans everywhere, and continues to earn praise for playing some of the most interesting zydeco today, both highly innovative and deeply respectful of tradition. In addition to Creole influences, Terry draws upon Cajun music, plus nods to swamp pop, R&B ballads, and more.
He proudly sings both traditional and original compositions in French, and has recorded zydeco classics by legends like Boozoo Chavis and John Delafose. For Terry, playing this music serves a higher purpose. “Music, to me, is my therapy,” he explains. “When I get on stage, I forget about all my troubles and free my soul.”

The Grouse Room concept and inspiration began as a family ritual in the home and hearts of the Chiasson family, led by Willard Chiasson (father of 6) and John Chiasson (the eldest son). From Matt Chiasson, in his own words: “So it started off at Christmas time. Dad would bring a bottle of famous grouse scotch, and he and John, John being the oldest boy, would, when it was time, pour a glass of The Famous Grouse for themselves and all the siblings, and any grandkids who were of age. Everybody in the family would have either a full shot, a half shot, or a little nip to taste based on their age. It became a tradition at the main family events, whether it was Christmas or a birthday, or the anniversary of Mom’s death, something like that. The family would toast to, usually my mother, and then to the event that we came together for, and of course to The Grouse. That started resonating with the family, and soon my nieces and nephews would text or call me with: “Uncle Matt, let’s go find a large nip of Famous Grouse Scotch.” Well we now have a place to do that on a regular basis!’” – Matt Chiasson, Owner, The Grouse Room
The Grouse Room is inspired by the legacy of John Chiasson, who passed away in August of 2013. John was a renowned photographer who traveled to both work and play in exotic locations all over the world. John followed his passions and his life is a testament to that fact. He graduated from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette with a degree in the arts, and is extremely well respected within the Lafayette community and other major cities such as New York and Nashville. He photographed many famous athletes, United States Presidents and politicians. He has photographed kings and queens of countries and celebrities for magazines such as Time, People, Cigar Aficionado and ESPN magazine He also was hired by many musicians, both locally and abroad, to create their CD covers, etc. His work will be displayed in various parts of the VIP room and main dance floor, helping create a universally rich musical environment, all while honoring his legacy. Many are expected to frequent the establishment just to learn more about his endeavors and travels and to see John’s work professionally displayed throughout.
Today John’s legacy drives us to work and play hard, and to truly enjoy life. Because of John’s love of the local arts, we found it appropriate to bring his vision through his photography from around the world back to lafayette, hence the birth of the Grouse Room. His work is displayed throughout The Grouse Room as a testament to that legacy, and we raise a glass of The Famous Grouse scotch in his honor.
The Grouse Room provides an upscale environment for those who desire to enjoy themselves through dance and mingling with friends. Our sound stage features excellent performers and acts that are sure get your feet moving.
Not just a nightclub, The Grouse Room also provides the best in cocktails, ranging from pre-prohibition classics to inventive originals that will have your mind and palate begging for more. Come, listen and dance to great live music in Lafayette’s premier venue, and make your own tradition with us, and raise your own glass to the Grouse, and John’s legacy.
