Natches is a magic city

Natchez once again has an independent bookstore.

Dixon Books opened on October 11 to a full house, gathered in the kids’ section around a circa-1983 antique hot air balloon. At the ribbon cutting, Mayor Dan Gibson gestured to the balloon, a whimsical symbol of the Bluff City and its famous fall festival, and declared, “The sky’s the limit.” The store was, he said, “far beyond everyone’s imaginations.”

Set into historic downtown Natchez like a puzzle piece that’s been missing, the bookstore is co-owned by Jennifer and Walter Boone and John and Ginger Weaver—who bought the circa-1868 Dixon Building in 2021.

Didn't sleep much last night... Had a perverse urge to listen to the signal drop out... Fatigue won and I woke up this morning, dial in, and there it was... The hated and dreaded fear of all broadcasters... Dead Air.

It sure was fun while it lasted.

"Oh it's just internet radio, it's not like it's a real show."
I guess that sentiment has been around since I began broadcasting on as A World ofStorytelling Radio. That first day our rankings were 5,690. But I had a secret and I worked it. We climbed, clawed, & scratched our way up the rankings. Today and tens of thousands of dollars invested later, AWOS is number 22 in the rankings.

January 31st, 2016; we will go off the air until I can find an alternative way to get stories to you.

I've had a call or two from other agencies and streaming providers and then... I'll begin again at the bottom of the rankings. Mercy.

I'm an old man, soon to retire, do you want this radio station? Should I spend the money? Again?
