Wedding Day Illustration for the Newlyweds!

Sweet like candy.
Years ago, in a moment of spontaneity, I added a colorful wash to nice paper andddd promptly did nothing with it.
In time, I got to doodling , which led to a few failures, eventually a moose I fell hard for, and now two more colorful creatures.

Imagine these three greeting you in card form.

Which western animal should I add to this trio?

Everything is DONE !
Onward to the next round of live wedding paintings with a clean slate.

What’s been working:
🎨Focusing a lot on the composition before I ever start. This and good lighting makes the piece 100X easier/faster/better
☀️ Staying much later than I’m technically supposed to so the piece is already “finished”.
🖌️Doing touch ups the same week as the wedding.

What could be better:
📦Packing / shipping is always my least favorite part

| Taking back my nervous system after having kids |
☀️ Out of necessity, I can’t dedicate a ton of time to this app. I’m finding ways to share my work that feel good to me. If you ever feel like you go through life with a constant live stream of potential social media captions in your mind, you may be in this boat with me :)

I’m enjoying painting, finding that it really is true that I don’t need other people to affirm my life, and feeling less anxious.

Motherhood and hormones and transitions can be derailing & beautiful.

Welcome to the BTS my accountability partners!

My real intention in sharing this is to finally make it real. This goal is just for me, not a client or collaborator, and because of that, it often drops to the bottom of the priority list (like working out 😉)

Can this launch by August 5th?! Your guess is as good as mine. This is just one of many moving parts, but it’s going to feel so good when it’s done.

If you’ve made this switch, I would welcome any tips you learned along the way.

Escaped to a hut for a few days and sketched some wild flowers.

Three kids is a lot of kids. And getting a second to draw isn’t usually my top priority anymore.
Nowadays, it’s exhilarating. like sneaking away to be with an old friend.

A family hike with all the various carriers. Malo is constantly stepping up to do hard things.

“Cribbage” aka move your peg the same number as the card you pull. You should try it!

May the next wedding painting always be better than the last

That will make you good, crazy, or both ☀️

A bit about me at the moment:
🎨Sometime in pregnancy my hair got really curly ONLY in the back. It makes me feel like a middle schooler who straightened the front two pieces, IYKYK.
🏔️I’ve felt behind for nearly two years, though I’m officially feeling caught up. I can’t describe how freeing that is!
🖌️The painting lineup for this year and next is SO GOOD. A true blessing after having the twins during busy season and having a very quiet 2025.
🌻My husband is a high school math teacher, essentially my opposite. He likes to find an objective in most things and we love to lean into summer vacay.
🎀🎀The twins are nearly 9 months! I’ll have to do a 9 months in 9 months out update soon.
