This project brings together four musicians from diverse musical backgrounds to explore the intersection of Indian classical music and jazz. Featuring original compositions alongside jazz and Carnatic repertoire, the ensemble highlights the shared values of improvisation, rhythmic interplay, and melodic expression found in both traditions.

Coming up one week from tomorrow on Saturday, Sep. 5 - don’t miss the Rich Chiaraluce / Marcus Firillo Quartet! 🎷🎸

Originally from New Haven, Connecticut, Rich Chiaraluce attended the Navy School of Music and went to Colorado Springs, CO to play with the NORAD Band. Rich has been on tour with many of the famous big bands including; Tommy Dorsey and Woody Herman. He has been the leader of the Artie Shaw orchestra.
Rich performs regularly at the local Denver jazz clubs and has recorded three of his own projects as well as being included on a host of local and national recordings.

Guitarist and composer Marcus Firillo is from New Haven, Connecticut, where he began playing professionally at fifteen. He earned a scholarship to study at New England Conservatory of Music in Boston before relocating to New York City. His first New York gigs were in a guitar trio with Roy Haynes on drums and Richard Davis on bass. He has a wide range of experience in creative improvised music, as well as the New York recording studios. In addition to leading his own groups, he has played with some of the giants of jazz, including:
Dizzy Gillespie, Roy Haynes, Tony Williams, Bobby Hutcherson, Chico Hamilton, Joe Henderson, Richard Davis, Rashied Ali, Hannibal Marvin Peterson, George Adams, Ray Barretto, Tom Harrell, Stanley Cowell, Cecil McBee, Andy Bey, Sheila Jordan, Robin Kenyata, and many others.
