Next weekend on our all-Sibelius program you will hear ‘The Swan of Tuonela’ 🦢

The music paints a gossamer, transcendental image of a mystical swan floating through Tuonela, the realm of the dead. Lemminkäinen, the hero of the epic, has been tasked with killing the sacred swan, but on the way he is shot with a poisoned arrow and dies. In the next part of the story he is restored to life.

The solo English horn represents the beautiful swan. This is one of the most prominent solos in the English Horn repertoire. Come hear this stunning work next Saturday, October 24th at 7:30pm at the Long Center for the Performing Arts!

The Wurlitzer organ at the Long Center for the Performing Arts has a long history dating beyond its 1982 premiere.
We’re looking forward to being a part of that history as we welcome Dr. Wendy Yuen to the stage to play this captivating instrument with the LSO on October 24th!

The B-Side concerts are a more intimate experience than a traditional symphony concert — a chance to get closer to the musicians, the music, and the stories behind what you’re hearing. And this next B-Side is going to be something truly special. 🎶🎨

What happens when a melody paints a picture, and a painting sings?

Join the Lafayette Symphony Orchestra and Art Museum of Greater Lafayette for an immersive evening that brings the gallery to life. Wander through the work of exhibiting artists Mary Pat Wallen and Caleb Weintraub, who will be in attendance, while LSO musicians perform a multi-genre chamber program inspired by their art.

This isn’t simply a concert in a museum. It’s the result of a months-long creative exchange between LSO Artistic Director Kellen Gray and the artists, exploring their creative processes and discovering the musical pieces that best reflect the emotion, stories, and ideas within their work.

Throughout the evening, exclusive video segments from those intimate conversations will give you an even deeper look into the connection between music and visual art.

Come wander. Come listen. Come see what happens when art gets a voice.

And did we mention- it’s FREE?

Admission is free thanks to the generous sponsorship of Duke Energy and Purdue Federal Credit Union, with support from Cellar W**e Bistro.

Save the date and come experience the B-Side! 🎶🖼️
