Honeybee made out of 100% reclaimed steel machinery -(beginning with an antique pick hammer as a spine, cogs and sprockets for abdomen and even an arrow tip for the stinger).

I actually like her more without paint but I wanted to celebrate the honeybee’s pollinating nature so I used gold yellow with gold glitter.

Thought I could share where my process begins and it ends …

In order: Medusa, Sasquatch, Luna Mothra, Poseidon, Vlad the Bat.
And concepts of Mothra, American Bison, Ae**us, Ammonite and a sculpture I really want to build that I call Black Widow Stallion. Someone hire me to build a spider horse plz and thank you for following my art!

“Butterfly Sentinel”
These insects are from the order lepidoptera, meaning “scaled-wing.” I feel like everyone senses a connection to these pollinators. Their biology is almost alchemical, how could you not admire them?!

She was so much fun to build - the request was for a “cosmic butterfly,” so I tried to really incorporate a biomechanical, organic vrs otherworldly feel. The weather was also stormy, which is my favorite time to create.
