Lafayette Community String Orchestra

Lafayette Community String Orchestra Renee Langley Nunez, Conductor | Tommy Benoit, General Manager The quartet has since changed its name to the Bayou String Quartet.

The Lafayette Community String Orchestra originated in 1992 as an outgrowth of the Lafayette Community String Quartet. The mission of this volunteer organization is to provide enjoyable string music at no cost to residents of Lafayette and the surrounding areas. This orchestra also provides string musicians of all ages and experience an opportunity to play in an ensemble. Members range in age from

middle school students to retired musicians. Some have been playing for over fifty years and some for less than one year. Members come from all walks of life. Over the years, the LCSO has performed at numerous nursing/retirement homes, the HoliDome, Girard Park Recreation Center, Oil Center Christmas Light Festival, KATC TV’s "Good Morning Acadiana" Show, Foley’s Department Store, Barnes & Noble, First United Methodist Church of Crowley, First Baptist Church of Lafayette Chapel, the Lafayette Public Library, Notre Dame Catholic Church of St. Martinville, and the Essanee Theater of New Iberia. Current members are from Lafayette, Carencro, Cecilia, Breaux Bridge, Duson, Crowley, Iowa, New Iberia, Natchitoches, and Washington (LA). LCSO's General Manager is Tommy Benoit. LCSO's Conductor is Renee Langley Nunez.

Dear LCSO Members:
I hope you all are healthy and free of all the medical problems of the past two years. I am looking forward to our summer session. Here is some information for you. We are tentatively scheduled to rehearse at First Baptist Church. I will let you know if and when that is confirmed. Our rehearsal dates will be every Tuesday in June (7-8:30PM) which are June 7, 14, 21, and 28. There will be one rehearsal on July 5 or 6 depending on Ms Nunez's schedule. Our performance will be on July10 at St. Mary's Catholic Church at 419 Doucet Road in Lafayette. The title of the program is Classics and Country. We performed a similar program in 2011. For those of you who would like to pick up your binders ahead of time, I will try to have them ready a week or two before the first rehearsal. Thanks to all of you for your participation in LCSO We have gradually improved over the years with your hard work and Ms. Nunez's leadership. I hope you will all be able to participate. If you know anyone who might be interested in joining us, please give him or her my contact information listed below.

LCSO Members: Remember that we do not have a rehearsal tonight (Monday). We have two more rehearsals: November 18 and November 25. Please spend some time on the three new pieces before the next rehearsal so that we will be able to include them in the program. The opener is William Tell, and Strolling Around the World selections will come in the established order. Our first rehearsal is Tuesday of next week and will be held in the band room at UL. This will be the only rehearsal that will be held at this location. The rest of our rehearsals will be at First Baptist Church in the regular rehearsal room. DO TAKE A MUSIC STAND TO UL BECAUSE THEIR STANDS MAY BE LOCKED UP.
