Bobbi, according to Bobbi

Studio dog. Stray. Self-appointed employee.
Pit / Catahoula / every other breed under the sun.
Walked up to the studio during our busiest season one year ago and never left.
No interview.
No references.
No prior experience.
Hired herself.

How did you get this job?
The shortest hiring process in Preservation Press history.

One year ago, in the middle of our busiest season, this random dog walked up to the studio.
We took her in.
She decided to stay.
That’s pretty much it.
Previous experience: Unknown
Qualifications: Showed up
Attendance since: Impeccable

A day in the life of Bobbi:
Wake up. Stretch.
Immediately inquire about breakfast.
Wait for Vidos to arrive because Vidos gets the most important greeting of the morning.
Do a lap.
Sleep curled into the smallest possible ball in her bed.
Relocate to the couch.
Sleep fully extended.
Monitor lunch without actually stealing anyones  food.
Wait for literally any dog to appear for play.
Repeat.
Flowers pressed to date: 0.

Why did Jade nickname Bobbi “a freak?”
The evidence:

Uses Jade’s foot as a full-body resting platform.
Doesn’t bark. Instead makes a noise somewhere between a turkey and a creature we haven’t identified yet.
Has absolutely no concept of personal space. Give her 3 seconds of attention and she will attempt to merge her entire body with yours.
Gets deeply concerned anytime Anne starts packing or looks like she might be leaving.
Completely loses her mind when someone says “go on a walk.”
Her pre-walk behavior has been compared to the hyenas from The Lion King.

Hence:
Bobbi. Turkey Dog. Hyena. Freak.
All terms of endearment, of course. 

THE BOBBI OPERATING SYSTEM

The slow burn
What does someone think about Jade after knowing her for 2 weeks vs. 2 years?
Two weeks:
Quiet. Calm. Organized. Keeps to herself. Probably thinks we’re insane.

Two years:
Still quiet. Still calm. Now just patiently waiting for exactly the right moment to absolutely roast you.

The woman between your flowers and disaster
What does “finishing” actually mean?

By the time a piece gets to Jade, she’s looking at every. tiny. thing.
Is every flower secure?
Is everything exactly where it should be?
Is there something everyone else missed?

Things Jade refuses to let Anne throw away
AKA: “We might need it.”

Mat board scraps.
An old keyboard she hung on the wall for “art.”
A tiny glow-in-the-dark resin balloon dog Anne was gifted at a show after eating someone’s dangerously spicy seasoning mix.
Eraser fragments that should have been thrown. 
Old cutter blades. So many blades.

What Jade probably doesn’t realize what I (Anne) sees:

Jade is one of those people who quietly became part of the fabric that holds this place together.
She came in part-time to help us frame one massive hotel project, joined us full-time summer of 2025, and somewhere along the way became someone I can completely rely on.

Vidos, according to Vidos:

Lead studio artist. Maker of things. Painter. Momma.

The hands for a whole lot of the artwork that leaves the studio.

Needs zero supervision.
Needs even fewer supplies.
Give her flowers, paint and glue and leave her alone.
Will let you know if she needs something.
She won't.

DO NOT DISTURB THE ARTIST

What actually happens on Vidos's side of the studio?
Orders get prepped and make their way to her desk..
And then...
We don't really know.

She doesn't ask many questions. She takes the idea, quietly starts working and five hours later there are somehow multiple finished pieces sitting around her.

Every so often one of us walks over to her side of the studio to see what she's working on and collectively:
“What the heck, Vidos.”

Because while the rest of us were answering emails or pressing flowers, she was making magic in silence.

Vidos can make an eyeball out of a flower.

Bird eyes specifically.
She somehow finds the exact microscopic piece of pressed flower that makes an eye look like an actual eye.
Sometimes they look a little too real.
We don't ask questions anymore.

THE VIDOS OPERATING SYSTEM

🎧 Pandora at barely audible volume

🧊 Constant background noise of ice chewing
🍎 Apples + peanut butter
🧥 Sweater on in the summer
🔥 Heater on in the summer
👜 Arrives carrying no fewer than 3 bags. Contents unknown.
🎨 Same paintbrushes she's been using since approximately 2023
🖌️ When asked if she needs new supplies: “I'm good.”

Nemesis: gluing down ferns.

Things that sound made up about Vidos but aren't:

Almost became a nun.

Works as an artist after leaving a full-time job at Lululemon.

Has tiny printed pictures of her son Anders taped all around her workspace.

If it's raining:
“I'm so tired.”
May leave. May return when weather conditions improve.

Spends weekends on a boat in the swamp with her fiancé, channeling her inner Lana Del Rey.

Can work for five straight hours without saying much and then rotate her chair 30 degrees, deliver the most unhinged one-liner you've heard all week, and immediately return to work.
