Say hello to Kelly Reed (she/her)!
Kelly has been singing in the Soprano/Tenor section of VMX for 7 whole months! She has never sung barbershop before and experienced her first vocal competition with us in March 2025.
Kelly has been singing for as long as she can remember, joined her first choir in junior high, and continued to sing in high school and college. In college, she was introduced to classical choral music and, after college, belonged to two different groups, Chorale Bel Canto (where she met her husband, Fred), and The Master Chorale of OC where she was able to tour Italy and be a part of 600 voices performing Verdi’s Requiem at the Pope’s Church outside the Vatican. In more recent years, Kelly sang for a time with a vocal jazz group called Vocal Magic. She also got to tackle musical theater with her family, garnering roles in Beauty and The Beast (Cogsworth), The King and I (Anna), Oklahoma (Aunt Eller), and Oliver (Mrs. Sowersbury).
She currently sings with the worship team at Messiah Lutheran in Yorba Linda.
When asked what she has enjoyed while singing with VMX so far, she said, “The passion and skill of the members and the fantastic variety of music. The competition aspect is also super fun and very new to me.”
In her free time, Kelly advocates for children with special needs in the public school system, as well as loving to travel, read, hike, bike, decorate, and entertain family and friends. We are very glad to have her!
