🔥 Auditions begin tonight @ 7:00pm!!! 🔥

Picketwire invites you to dive into the dark world of Ray Bradbury’s dystopian classic “Fahrenheit 451.” Fahrenheit 451 is the temperature at which paper ignites. This powerful drama is about the inner struggle of Guy Montag, a fireman. Living in a highly controlled world, where firemen no longer extinguish fires, but rather start them. Montag has worked as a civil servant for ten years burning books, but lately he has become increasingly unsure about what he is doing and about his vegetable-like existence. It is not until he meets a teenager, who is filled with strange ideas, that he is led into a dangerous and highly combustible situation. Now he must choose between continuing his nonexistent existence and risking everything for the right to think.

The show features ample roles for audition goers ages 15 and up. Auditions will be held July 20th and 21st at 7:00 PM at the Picketwire Center located at 802 San Juan Avenue in La Junta. Audition goers can expect to read a selection from the script, which will be provided. Immediately after the matinee of Footloose, our cast and crew did what only theatre people consider a normal, casual Sunday afternoon activity: they YEETED AN ENTIRE SET OFF THE STAGE so we could start building the fiery world of Fahrenheit 451.

One minute they’re kicking off their Sunday shoes…
the next minute they’re hauling lumber like they’re training for American Ninja Warrior: Community Theatre Edition.

But before the first board flew and the first flat disappeared into the abyss, we had something huge to celebrate:

YOU FILLED THE THEATRE.
Over and over.
Footloose had packed houses, and that’s because this community showed up with heart, hype, and “we’re not missing this one” energy.

You didn’t just support the show
You supercharged it.

You reminded us why Picketwire is the beating heart of La Junta.

So from the bottom of our very grateful hearts:
THANK YOU.
Thank you for packing the seats.
Thank you for cheering until your hands hurt.
Thank you for making Footloose a full-blown community takeover.

Now the set is struck.
The stage is cleared.

MEET THE CAST OF FOOTLOOSE

Rounding out this amazing cast are our Ensemble and the Dancers from Ruiz Arts! These talented folks wear many different hats (literally) throughout the production. They serve as the vital vocal support and meet the choreography demands of a polished summer musical featuring large group numbers. Our show certainly wouldn't be complete without each one of them.
