MEET THE CAST OF FOOTLOOSE
Rena Ruiz as Rusty
Q: If you could add any other 1980’s pop song to the soundtrack, which one would it be and who would sing it?
A: If I could add any other 1980’s song to the soundtrack it would be “Dancing With Myself” by Billy Idol. This 80’s hit would be perfect for the character of Ren and who doesn’t love Billy Idol!
Q: The residents of Bomont famously want to outlaw dancing. If you had to ban one other perfectly normal everyday activity, what would it be?
A: A normal everyday activity I would ban is waking up early. I am a night owl so a world where I could always sleep in till 11:00am would be idealistic for me!
Q: What’s the most challenging dance number in this show compared to other musicals you've done?
A: My most challenging dance number is “Let’s Hear It for the Boy”. The song itself is very hard to sing. Adding movement and staging on top of that makes for a challenge, but it has been fun to improve on my skills.
Q: What is the funniest blooper or mistake that has happened during rehearsals so far?
A: The funniest blooper from rehearsals was watching my real life Willard (who also plays Willard in the show) slip, fall, and slide around while learning to dance. This is a memory I will look back on and laugh at forever!
Q: If your character could text one other character in the show, what would the first message say?
A: Rusty’s first text would be going straight to Chuck Cranston and it would read, “Gag me with a spoon dweeb”.
