The gallery has welcomed a little more summer.

As La Conner gets ready for Saturday’s parade, the town is dressed in red, white, and blue for our nation’s semi-quincentennial celebration. Window boxes are blooming, flags are flying, and the waterfront has that unmistakable feeling of summertime.

Inside the gallery, the tulips are quietly giving way to sunflowers, lavender and boats, bringing warm light, rich color, and the feeling of long July afternoons to the walls. I always enjoy these gentle seasonal shifts—they remind me that a gallery can change and grow right along with the landscape outside.

If you’re strolling through town for the festivities this weekend, I’d love to welcome you in. There are new paintings on the walls, familiar favorites, and a fresh season waiting to be discovered.

Before the Bloom 🌿

I’ve been enjoying this one at home for a little while.

Painted en plein air beneath the Olympic Mountains, it captures the lavender fields before they reach their summer crescendo—when fresh greens still lead the chorus and the first hints of violet begin to appear.

There is something peaceful about this brief season of anticipation. A reminder that beauty doesn’t wait for full bloom.
