Our Stagecraft class just read "The Odd Couple" and we're learning how to draft ground plans. Looking back at these photos from our 2016 productions made me so nostalgic.
These are the only photos I have! Anyone have more they can share with me?

We are in need of a class set of Macbooks for the theatre tech class. Do you have an old Macbook lying around that you've been meaning to erase and throw out? Would you be willing to donate it? During distance learning, students are provided a Chromebook, which is app-based rather than program-based and greatly limits what we can do.
Let us know if you can donate and if needed, we'll pay your shipping! Your hard drives will be wiped so your information will be safe.
Thanks from La Center High School Theatre
Thinking a lot lately about how whitewashed theatre is and, more specifically, how whitewashed and male-centric the material I present in class is. I’m spending this summer diversifying my bookshelf and finding ways to expand our understanding of the human experience in the classroom. Know of great plays and musicals written by BIPOC and women that I should read? Let me know! Have a safe, happy and world-expanding summer and I can’t wait to see you all in the fall! -Rideout

During this difficult time, we have a special Birdie to give this year: The Songbird Award.
We’re happy to announce that the winner is Tymber Leavitt!
——————————————
This bird has twittered and trilled loud and clear as a beacon of hope throughout the lockdown. Tymber boosted moral and reinforced our nest against the storm. Even caged, she’s remembered the flock. Thanks for being a light for all of us, Tymber! @ La Center High School
The award that started it all! The coveted Flamingo Award for 2020 goes to Lindsay Preiss!
——————————————
Named after an especially well-performed monologue by alumni Lexi Darienzo, the Flamingo Award is given for energy and investment. Lindsay was recognized by her peers as the first to the roost and the last to fly the coop. She gave it her all and has no egrets. Congrats Lindsay! #lacentertheatre @ La Center High School
The “In the Wings” Award is given for leadership, hard work and initiative off stage. Taylor Huston-Allen has been voted this year’s recipient! She is hawkish in her determination to put on an eggcellent show.

Congratulations Taylor and thank you for making La Center Theatre better for all of us! #lacentertheatre @ La Center High School

Each year La Center Theatre recognizes hard-working and dedicated students as voted on by their peers with The Birdies. Congratulations to this year’s CROW Award recipient, Brianna Reil!

Peter and the Starcatcher Musical Spotlight: Just one of Smee's many talents; the ability to lure. No psychoanalysis required. "Peter and the Starcatcher" is a play with music but not a traditional musical. A linguistic feast, it is gobs of fun with interludes of tragic dislocation." ~Chris Jones, The Chicago Tribune, Sept. 11, 2015 Peter and the Starcatcher: Tonight, 7pm. Tickets at the door.
