Introduction to Visual & Performing Arts at St. Francis High School provides all students with an appreciation of the history of drama, art and music. Students are exposed to the influences on style, techniques, as well as contributions of master artists in each field. Opportunities to demonstrate abilities in each of the arts prepare students for future advanced study. Students enjoy a new state-

of-the-art theater and new classrooms for music and art. With the completion of a 12,000 square foot Degheri Performing Arts Center in September 2002, students are not only exposed to a variety of offerings within the arts, they will gain hands-on experience in a facility that is dedicated entirely to the arts. The Theater Arts Course emphasizes the development of acting and theatre techniques through the students participation in acting projects. Primarily a creative activity, much emphasis is put on the individual's participation in solo and group activities. The course stresses the potential use of theatre skills, as well as the history of theatre in relation to the religious morality, mystery and miracle plays. The Arts Department sponsors at least two productions during the year, a play during the first semester and a musical in the spring.

Opens Tonight and runs March 19 - 21, 26 - 28 at 7pm and March 22 and 29 at 2pm. All shows are sold out, but take a chance and arrive at the theater 30 minutes before showtime for returned tickets or limited SRO seats.
