A performing arts center conceived as a connector, between riverbanks, between neighborhoods, between disciplines. BIG - Bjarke Ingels Group's design for the new Tennessee Performing Arts Center is the kind of thinking we respond to: architecture that understands its role in a larger ecosystem, then executes with precision and poetry. The aluminum facade, tubes bundled like organ pipes or steel chimes, undulating from vertical to horizontal to form openings and canopies, makes the building's identity inseparable from its purpose before a single performer takes the stage.
