Congratulations to both our Varsity Tenor-Bass and Treble Select Choirs for advancing to the State Round of the 2026 Next Level Performances (NLP) Choirs - Submission Contest!!

Mr. Garcia submitted recordings of one song each from the 2 choirs’ UIL performances: “Dulaman” from Varsity Tenor-Bass Choir and “Dies Irae” from Treble Select. The Tenor-Bass Choir performance earned 1st place among all Varsity Choir entries from Region 18! Treble Select was selected as an advancing entry from all Non Varsity Choir recorded submissions from Region 18 as well!

State Round results will be announced during the virtual concerts on Sunday, July 12th (times TBD), and awards distributed at the TCDA summer convention!

Congrats to all members of the honored choirs and a big thanks to our accompanist, Ms. Flake, for her wonderful playing!

Our Lobo Choir Pop Show will be on May 8 at 7 pm. This will be presented at our new Lehman Vertical Team Auditorium! Our theme this year is “Battle of the Bands.” Be it rock bands or boy/girl bands, there will be tons of music for all to enjoy. From the music of Queen, Bon Jovi, and The Beatles to NSYNC, the Spice Girls, and Wilson Phillips, there’ll be something for all musical tastes. Hope you’ll join us for this FREE event!

Lehman Choir hosted a Region Auditions Clinic last week for Chapa and Simon Middle School choir members who will be auditioning for the Region Choir! Participants socialized and ate pizza and then worked on the auditions music with the 3 choir directors and LHS Choir student volunteers. Thanks to Ms. Garcia and Ms. Bowen for their valuable assistance and leadership in organizing the event, as well as leading sectionals. Also a big thanks to Lobo Choir students and officers for volunteering their time to lead sectionals as well! This tradition was revived last year for the first time since COVID, and student participation nearly doubled from last year to this year

Lehman HS Choirs are proud to announce that our own Albert Hernandez Tirao has qualified to be a member of the All-State Tenor-Bass Choir! He will represent Lehman High School in a performance at the Texas Music Educators Association Convention on February 14 in San Antonio. Of over 70,000 students who begin the audition process across the State, only 1,810 students end up being selected to perform in an All-State ensemble. To be selected as one of the top 2.5 percent of musicians in the state is the highest honor a Texas music student can receive!

Albert is only the 6th choir student in Lehman history to achieve this honor. Congratulations, Albert!
