Hey gang! There's been a lot of negativity and frustrations surrounding comedy in this town, and I want to try to put an end to it.
The Thursday night comedy series at the Rhine Hall was my fault. I was trying to avoid competing with various other ventures in town, and thought that putting the show on a Thursday at an earlier start time to the Kokomo Press mic at Cooper's would help both shows. I encouraged my comedians to check out the Press mic, and most weeks at least a couple of them did. Hell, I did myself a few times. I also encouraged audience members to go over to Coopers afterwards, and some of them did. At no point was my goal to create discord or unnecessary competition. This town is big enough for both of our venues, and we should be working together. I have a good relationship with the guys from the Press, and I hope to continue to do so.
Future shows will be on Fridays or Saturdays, and I will ensure they are not happening the same days as Press shows, because while I believe we could work in concert successfully, I never want there to be any appearance of anger or rivalry.
I am the only one responsible for comedy at the Rhine Hall. Gary signs off on the comedians and charities (when applicable), but I am the show producer and booker. If you have any frustrations with how comedy is run, please bring them to me and I will do my best to either solve the problem or explain why that isn't possible. By that same token, if you have issues with something the Rhine Hall is doing that is not comedy related, I have nothing to do with that.
Lots of feathers have been ruffled and feelings have been hurt, and I apologize for any involvement I have had. I hope that we can reboot and start from a place of positivity. Like High School Musical said, we're all in this together.
