Applications for the Knoxville Symphony Youth Ensembles 2026–2027 season are open!

Join a vibrant community of young artists through our variety of ensembles.

Open to strings, winds, brass, percussion, piano, and vocalists, these ensembles offer high-quality musical training in a challenging and professional environment.

Last week, KSO Summer Music Camp was filled with creativity thanks to Nief-Norf!

KSO Principal Oboe and Nief Norf Co-Artistic Director Claire Chenette led students in a workshop exploring graphic scores—music written with symbols, shapes, and lines rather than traditional notation.

After creating a graphic score together, campers took turns guiding the ensemble through it, resulting in unique performances of the same piece every time.

Chenette hopes that students learn “that it’s okay to play in a format where there are no mistakes, so they can feel free to express themselves on their instruments.”

Our “Once Upon a Time” Summer Music Camp came to a close with incredible performances featuring our talented campers. We are so proud of everything they accomplished in just one week!
